My problem with our CBs, despite the fact that I would love to add 1 more of starting quality, is that they almost all have little injury issues.

Gomez, Klavan and Matip all have multiple 1-3 month spells on the sideline. If those overlap too much....

As for Gomez - physically he plays the part. He's lapsed mentally a few times at the back post, but CB has different requirements so I'm hoping he improves there (i.e. he won't have to worrya bout getting forward and can just play safer at times)

There is no better player for next to him than VVD. He'll learn a ton.

I want to thank whoever referred r/soccerstreams above.

Yeah, my stream selection sometimes went out, but I'd just pick another and it would be right back.

According to ESPN, Liverpool were the victims of the most "bad luck" in the English Premiere League for the 2017-18 season.

They started with a list of 35 parameters that they then pared down to the following 9 factors they chose to define as good or bad "luck":

o Incorrectly awarded goal (offside, foul in build-up, etc)
o Incorrectly disallowed goal (offside, handball that wasn’t, etc)
o Incorrectly awarded and converted penalty
o Incorrectly awarded and converted free kick
o Penalty not awarded that should have been
o Incorrect red card
o Red card that should have been
o Goal scored outside of allotted time
o Deflected goal (not scored without deflection)

According to their statistical experiment, Liverpool would have been awarded 12 more points (and finished 2nd overall) in the table if they hadn't been so "unlucky" in 2017-18. Personally, I read that as Liverpool would have done much better if the awful EPL refs hadn't screwed them so bad in 2017-18.

The whole thing is apropos of nothing, for sure, but its an interesting thought experiment.

I think 2011/12 was my first season. We've come a long way since having to play Charlie Adam.

A lot of those things are very subjective.

Welcome to the club. You picked a great time. After following the EPL for awhile due to the influence of a good friendship I decided I was a Pool fan 7 years ago.... and then three days later they sold Fernando Torres.

It’s a great board, don’t let the Manc fan snobs get to you.

We have a lot of Pool lurkers like me.

Was so fricking good on Chelsea those couple of season. But always hurt.

Loved watching that dude play when he was good.

Dark fricking days. I've come close to forgiving him, he should have been loyal but the club was such a toxic and he paid his karma penalty at Chelsea. Just wish it wouldn't have been Chelsea and he hadn't forced it so much.

I don't care what anyone says and its probably bias as hell but at the very peak of his powers those first few seasons, I'm sorry but he was more fun to watch than CR7 and Messi to me.

So insanely smooth and unqiue. Power, pace, shot, aereal ability, positioning, hold up play. Just pure class and grace. CR7 always looked like a fast gizelle to me and Messi just looked like a midget hamster on meth. Both insanely talented just not as "beautiful". No homo.

Torres reminded me of the great players in the 80s and 90s.

He was just incredible.

FIFA 10 made me think he was the best player for Liverpool (other than Torres) and then I was so disappointed when I hardly ever got to see him play IRL lmao

he was so fat and bad for us. Shell of his former self.

I think he peaked/played way too much too early and didn't have the PED advantage that Messi had at that age.

Nat Phillips might find himself with some 1st team selections this year in FA and League cup comps. Yeah, still pre-season, but the young man plays so composed.
