I don't disagree, TFTC. I just think Klopp has a specific idea of what he wants and needs at CB and he doesn't feel the need to go outside those parameters for what he feels would be a shot in the dark.

I could well be wrong, but though he is undoubtedly advised up and down the line on personnel and team management, I believe Klopp FULLY runs the entire operation. Who to play. Who to buy. Who to start. Who to sell. (I believe the one thing he doesn't bother with is dotting the i's and crossing the t's on team finance and business, though the people that DO are obliged to back him with regard to team building and structuring. That is the only sane thing for FSG to be doing for the coach who is well on his way to restoring huge value to this historic club. Klopp doesn't "need" this job, so I am 99.99% positive FSG is doing whatever he needs to keep him happy.)

I couldn't be more thrilled at the progress this team has made under Klopp. I wonder if people truly understand that, as of now, he has still been in charge of this team FOR LESS THAN TWO YEARS (Oct. 5th will be his 2-yr Liverpool anniversary).

Yes, like any other human being I WANT ALL THE THINGS NOW too. But, from a rational perspective, we've bought and promoted quality depth into the squad at what has been our most vulnerable positions to injury (forwards, wingers, midfielders). I damn sure hope Liverpool gets the VVD deal across the line even so.

If we don't bring in a CB, this window is a failure.

while we all want a CB, and agree that it needs to be addressed, i believe what Klopp is doing is playing defense with his offense.... he's bolstering as much pace and power that he can, so it will alleviate the necessity, to a point, of addressing our back line....

that's why i believe this Lemar deal got started, IMO... i believe they say the writing on the wall with VVD, and instead of going after another CB, and spending money on a player that wasn't in their plans like VVD, they'd rather stockpile with as much ammunition to score and control the ball as possible... so they look to bring in another midfielder in Lemar, who will help ease the transition from Cou next season, along with giving us options with the line up the rest of this one...

IMO, that's why we haven't be linked to another CB... the way i see it playing out is we miss on VVD this window, we get Lemar at the last minute, we then go back to the well in January for VVD and we either get him then or next summer... Cou goes to Barca next summer, and we have Lemar and Keita to replace him...

Reddy says we're prepared to jump above the £200M mark (total) today, to get these deals done...

LINK

Seeing as we've spend £70M or so this window, that means would could be offering what £130-140M for the two signings we still want?

Those numbers coincide with the price demanded for one want-away midget. If Lemar comes in, Cou goes. If Lemar goes to Arsenal, Cou stays.

Yep, also rumblings in the last hour or so that VVD left SOTON training and then a tweet from former red David Thompson that he will be a red today:

see this is what man seem to be thinking, but they'd bring Lemar in to add to our attack with Cou, and to use in place of him for cup games...

at the end of the day, i don't think VVD nor Cou go anywhere this window... both will stay with their teams, unhappily, and will just begin the countdown of the days till they can go to the teams they actually want to be with, and for VVD that may be January, or it will be, like Cou, next summer...

I've seen several posts saying this loan was contingent on us bringing in another player (probably Lemar)... Hope that's the case

We dont sell Cou without VVD or Lemar today
I know they are not position matches but we just dont
Klopp will not viewed as the manager of a selling club.
Every club sells though sometimes. Man U sold Ronaldo etc etc. I just think Klopp wants to package it as a trade and moving Cou as a disgruntled employee. FSG is in the make Klopp happy business.

we aren't selling Cou no matter what... even if we got VVD and Lemar today... we are open for business with Coutinho NEXT summer, not this one....

he may be disgruntled, but i'm sure he understands, at the end of the day, it's a business... and Klopp's business is to win games, Cou's business is to win games, and if they can do that, they'll both get what they want soon enough....

tell him i said 'sup...

i'm just posting it because this is the clearest signal that Barca has moved on from Cou in this window... they haven't even submitted a 4th bid, and have brought in plan B...

as far as we are concerned, if we do end up getting Lemar, it will be literally last minute type of shite... cut off is 11pm, their time, 6pm ours (or mine, at least)... i won't believe a damn thing without pictures until around 4pm today.... or at least, i'm gonna try not to, anyway....
