Just noticed the post count for this thread compared to our peers. We didn't waste any time ratcheting up the drama this year.

Yeah, the transfer "issues" this window did the trick

So, there is a new article in the Times by Matt Hughes who has told the new Saint's boss that they need to see to buy..
The purchase of the club was financed by a Hong Kong bank and investors from Macau. They want a return on that investment. So the club will run exactly as it was pre-takeover, with a need to sell in order to fund transfers...
Doesn't sound like a club who can turn down big £££ for one player...

I would agree - however, that's dependent upon them actually wanting to buy anyone else. If they aren't really looking to buy any more players, then I don't see that they would have a need to sell.
If he feels that there is 50m worth of players he's looking to buy...then VVD would need to go.

Well, of course...
I've read they want to buy Wesley Hoedt (CB - Lazio)... So far, they have really only brought in the CM from Juve... Lemina..
If thats their ambition, then holding on to VVD makes little sense.. teams ahead of them are improving, specifically.. Everton..

Another week has gone by and we haven't bought anyone.

I hear ya... the mid week match was tough this week (and next)...
I'll reserve judgement until 9/1... I wish we'd have done everything sooner, but it's a long season...
Getting Coutinho back with his head right, will make me a happy... defensive issues not withstanding..

Well of course, but there are other things to consider (players available/selling clubs)... I'm sure everyone would like things done early...
At the end of the day, that date has come and gone.. what gets done over the next couple of weeks is what matters now..

And we're still chasing 2 players that aren't available.

The frustrating thing is that VVD was done early and we screwed it up.
Posted on 8/18/17 at 10:16 am to pvilleguru
possibly... I mean all we can really do is wait and see where we are on 9/1...

An that's still shite business by incompetent people, Klopp included.

okay... I don't know what to say other than, I hope they keep pursuing players even though the start of the season has come and gone...

Barcelona are in a world of shite whether the LFC haters on this board want to admit it or not. Their current squad doesn't finish top 4 in EPL this year

Come on now... they have some aging guys, sure, but this year's Barca is still an incredible collection of talent.

I disagree. We'll see soon enough though

Frustrated Liverpool have told Barcelona not to contact them again, after flatly rejecting yet another offer for Philippe Coutinho.
There is growing anger within Anfield at the games now being played by the Catalan club, and the message from Merseyside is simple: the matter is closed.
MirrorSport has revealed the true financial details behind Barca's latest bid , which was leaked for maximum publicity at headline figures of of just under £119m.
In fact, the third attempt to cause unrest and a fraught political situation designed to prise Coutinho from the Premier League constituted only a guaranteed £80m, with the rest in increasingly abstract add-ons.
Those included multiple Champions' League triumphs and the Brazilian winning the Balon D'Or and would be considered largely unachievable by the English outfit.

These ‘never-never payments’ would include Coutinho...
- Winning multiple trophies in the same season
- Winning multiple Champions League titles
- Winning the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best player
- Winning multiple trophies and the Ballon D’Or in the same season
- Payment of the basic £80m fee staggered over five years
