I agree. I would rather poach McCarthy from Southampton to provide competition for Karius.

Butland’s price is ridiculous. I wasn’t insinuating a panic buy after the big 2. The issue is though that Migs is gone so you have to add a GK. I would spend the cash but if we aren’t then my question was and is who is out there that could be an uograde? I also believe that Karius, at this time, is not up to the task with the team that is being formed around him.

They’re publicly traded so they just came out and said some information regarding it wasn’t true. Probably just them trying to save face until they release public records on the fee and to make everyone happy

You gotta love Aulas. Fékir will be doing the lean and he’ll be denying that anything will be done before the WC.

Can we knew... Thought the Juve deal was official a while ago, not surprised by Flanagan, he was great for 13/14, but not the quality of player we need

Gents it looks like we have our first official transfer saga of the summer.

Fekir not announced today like a lot of our people apparently were thinking. Not a whole lot of actual info out though because a lot of people seem to just be speculating.

Some people thought it could've been his medical, but Pearce and David Maddock (who's been pretty quick and spot on this whole window) have suggested the medical was completed even though there may have been some concern about his knee after he had surgery. More people on the French side seem to be guessing it's that the French transfer window doesn't officially open til today, or that Lyon is still trying to push it back until after the World Cup purely to put it on the books for next year since.

At this point though, it doesn't seem like anyone truly knows so strap in and hopefully we find out something sooner than later.

I know

I just saw Graeme Kelly say the BS about the medical stuff so I blew it off. He seems like a classic case of throwing a bunch of shite against the wall til something sticks

Either way, no real news at this point since it mostly seems like everyone guessing. Would be funny if it's just a wait to announce it tomorrow

Jack - I agree, not sure what the hold up is, but I think it eventually gets done.. hopefully today!

Shes now saying we may be hesitating after the medical..

quote:

Fekir suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his right knee while on international duty in September 2015, requiring arthroscopic surgery to clean a joint in August 2016, before picking up a contusion in the area in February this year.

While those setbacks will have been no secret to Liverpool, the full condition of Fekir’s right knee will have only been evident after the medical.

When the Liverpool Echo reported that a second opinion was sourced on the problem, that confirmed that there was initially enough risk not to immediately proceed with the transfer.

And while they stated that ‘fears were eased’ following the consultation, that the situation hasn't progressed suggests reservations remain.

Maybe we're trying to negotiate a lower fee to assume the risk with his knee?? Apparently, we've sent Barry Hunter to Lyon, as well..

Been through transfers for so long I don't believe anything until I see pen to paper with the player.
Transfers are alot different overseas than they are here in America, football basketball etc. Here it's pretty cut and dry. Not so much in the soccer transfer market overseas. Not only do you have to reach agreement with player, usually the easy part, but you have to reach agreement with the club. That's when it starts taking twists and turns.

Sure, thats all well known on how transfers work...

But that was apparently all done (I mean he already did his initial media photos/interviews with the club)... something came up in the 11th hour thats stalling the deal...

But I agree, until the clubs announce, it's never "done"
