Sevilla's run of 3 straight Europa Cups is great experience for their team, and it shows in their performances this season.

yeah - Sevilla were no Ajax... A very dangerous opponent..

I don't really care who we draw in the next round.. It's just so nice to be playing KO rounds in the UCL.. feels like forever..

So the 2 best EPL teams are the only ones to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Not a big surprise honestly, City have just been good and we can score with anyone and have gotten a good draw

Obviously we want Roma or Sevilla for ease of advancement purposes, but every team at this stage is really, really dangerous.

I'd love a run at Bayern or Barca.

I'd rather avoid Real and City, but I know we can score with them.

Only team I'd say we really, really want to avoid is Juventus just because they play so compact and organized.

Draw can't get here soon enough!

Yeah, I'd honestly like to see Barca in the quarters with Roma and Sevilla also getting drawn, then get one of those guys in the semis should we make it... Would be a great draw to get us to a European Final

Liverpool vs Barcelona
Sevilla vs Roma
Bayern vs City
Juventus vs Real

I could dig it.

Emre Can talking about United
quote:

“It was one of the mistakes we did around the goals,” he told liverpoolfc.com.

“The second balls were not good around the two situations where we conceded. In my position, it was not good from me.

“We have to learn from it and do it better in the next game against Watford.

“We made very easy mistakes when we conceded the goals; we have to defend better as a team there.

“It was a very disappointing result but I think we can learn a lot from it.”
Damnit I'm gonna miss him if he does go

Just the constant professional. He genuinely seems to respect and care about the club, and just always looking to get better and do what he can to help.

I've definitely been critical of him in the past, but he's just a great representative and I would love to see him stay, but can't blame him for leaving.

Would a strong summer window keep him around? I understand the money issue but maybe he’ll make a sacrifice here by being on an elite team.

His thing has been issues with contract. And I've heard different reasons for him not signing a new contract. Originally it was money, though it seems like we're willing to meet that. Then it was he wanted guarantees as far as playing as a 6. Seems like we're meeting that with how much he's played there this year, but Henderson's injuries have helped with that. And then the biggest thing seems to be an obtainable release clause, which we reportedly aren't really budging on.

Who knows exactly what's going on, but needless to say I don't think what we do in the window has much of an impact on him. It will probably more come down to his contract and other guarantees.

Interesting piece on the (possible?) presence of bias in officiating when it comes to awarding penalties in the Premiere League.

And its not exactly what you would think.

https://tomkinstimes.com/2018/03/big-free-read-are-refs-biased-against-foreign-players-a-look-at-how-to-win-a-penalty-in-the-pl/

quote:

What I will show here is that penalties are actually predictable in one sense, and that the figure of one particular metric is spot-on in predicting “who” will give those penalties away.

The big shock remains the way that foreign players – most of whom have no personal history of diving – continue to be ignored when it comes to being awarded penalties; and that’s a big problem if your front four/three are foreign.

Because, to win penalties it seems you don’t need to be a great attacking side – but just have British players. Yes, it’s that simple.

Well that was a disappointing draw. Would have preferred a matchup against a team we haven't played in a while but at least we will save on travel costs!

At least we know Pep likes to come out and play football.

Hopefully our defense will be nice and solid.
