ESPNFC is crap, they are reaching to that conclusion. The only quote I see from Roberto in that article is:

quote:

"That's when you are in a strong position, when you've got football making the decisions. It's important that you give continuity and at the moment, Joel is doing really well.

"But Tim Howard has been injured and he hasn't been able to fight for his place back. We'll benefit from the competition for places and that's the way I want to see it."

Ive seen it on twitter from about three different sources. Their defense has been pretty terrible this year not sure if its all his fault.

It's shite.

Howard was injured and Robles played decent when he was close to coming back.

Maybe Stones lost his spot too. He might not start Saturday, but I'm sure it's not injury related...

I haven't watched Everton much this year, but what in hell happened to Stones. He went from a player Chelsea was desperate for to utter shite it sounds like.

Stones is a solid, reliable player but this is a situation where a player's hype extends farther than the substance. He is often hesitant and timid and needs to improve his aggressiveness as a defender. He offers very little in the air. Everton probably should have sold him as he is not worth 40M pounds. Still, never discount the possibility of Man City or Chelsea shelling out.

Stones will probably prove a good sale/good player to keep yet, but he's been pretty immature lately, especially with the "I want to practice and make mistakes during matches so I can become elite" shite.

Howard has been pretty hard to defend, but Martinez likes him still and Martinez is stubborn as hell

I don't think he's been right mentally all year. The whole transfer saga put a bunch of pressure on him, then we've had a bunch of defenders get hurt which I think put more pressure on him, and now he has been banged up.

He hasn't played in a while but I think that's a good thing. He could use the rest both mentally and physically. Hopefully when they decide to bring him back he'll be fully healthy and just play within himself and stop trying to do too much.

ESPNFC is awful, Bobby said a lot more than that. He's definitely the #2 now though. It's pretty clear.

Howard has been shite this year, with little help from the back line, but it's about time Bobby made the switch.

It will be difficult for Howard to retake the #1 keeper role at age 37. He may be moving into Brad Friedel territory in his last couple of years at Tottenham.
