Waited in tube lines after matches at both Emirates and Craven's Cottage is just as big a CF as anything at Reliant.
I could tell walking out of CC that it would be a shite show at the tube. It was. My friend and I damn near sprinted to get ahead of everyone leaving the stadium so we could make sure we weren't behind a 20 minute backlog of people trying to squeeze their asses into a tiny arse train.

The point is FIFA keeps awarding to these bankrupt incompetent borderline third world countries instead of just manning up and giving it to Western Europe and the US until these other countries get their shite together. Same with the Olympics
THIS RIGHT HERE
Countries are nearly bankrupting themselves to try and show off and spend millions and/or billions on things they don't need and can't afford.
In a lot of ways it make a me want the next couple to be shite shows and hope it opens their eyes to stop giving it to countries who need to build everything, minor infrastructure updates, maybe even one new stadium that's ok, 9 new stadiums and brand new everything else not ok

1994 was the biggest WC in history in terms of attendance. Having one now would shatter that record.
And that's before the tournament expanded. It's a landslide in terms of fans per game.

Vice just put out a good article: LINK

"There are two more weeks of it and it's going to be good stuff, because you never give it all away at once, you don't take all your clothes off on the first night," Jennings said. "This is how it works, FIFA is very, very corrupt."
“One has to say it like it is: FIFA is a load of corrupt shite that ruins our game. And these bums, these shoddy little thieves in Zürich, they’re not running my game,” he added. “FIFA is the enemy.”

I just want a GD WC in THE USA sooner than later. I'm determined to attend one.

One thing being missed in this bitchfest in most of the UK stadiums may be in the center of the towns but they are set up for residents of the area, most of the fans are local. Try to find hotel space close to the stadiums because it is not there. Sure the UK has good public transport and I have enjoyed using it but it is not set up to move the amount of people around for matches. If you want to go from London Liverpool ST station to Newcastle it is easy for a few hundred a day, not so much for 50,000+ as there is only one direct line. The airport situation there sucks, you are not going to fly into a city and watch a match and fly back out. The Olympics was a success because it was a predominantly London event, sold out matches around the country would be a far bigger logistical problem than in the US.
The UK could of course overcome these obstacles but let’s not pretend the US could not overcome its own as well.

You had one 20 years ago, stop your fricking bitching and travel to one like everybody else.
If the USA gets one before the UK its a joke. Youve had your "heres a WC to try and get your ocuntry into football" to get it a second time I think you need to be building more of a history. I think a revote takes it Australia, after all the reports are that this happened in the first place because they were worried about Australia. Who havent had one yet, and like the USA is a great place to visit with great stadiums to use...but they have the advantage of not having one before
Posted on 6/3/14 at 5:16 am to engvol
Don't think the US would be the next country granted a WC, however it is the country that could pull one off with little or short notice better than anyone. Our stadiums are empty in June, schools already out for vacation, and the infrastructure already in place. No other country has these advantages.

You think most fans of big clubs are within walking distance of their stadiums.

In London, Manchester, Liverpool its not that hard.

Its much easier to catch a Virgin Train from Euston to a northern city in 2 hours than flying across the US. How do you think 3k+ fans for each team travel across England during the week and weekend.
It would be easier to have one central location to stay during the duration of the WC. Thats why Germany worked so well for American fans who stayed in the Ramstein area.

Doesn't CC only have one tube stop (Chelsea)?

We said frick it and got a cab from charing cross b/c we were running late. It hurt the pocket books but he dropped us up right in front almost running over the thousands of people in the street.
That neighborhood right next to CC tho.

No doubt but we are not talking about 3,000 for a game are we?

London you are 100% correct, Manchester and Liverpool not so much.

No, I do know they do not require hotel rooms or resteraunts for meals.

Again it is a matter of scale, how many passengers can that train haul at a time. There is not much spare capacity left in the rail system. Train tracks are a finite thing airspace not so much
If you want to host all matches in London on short notice I am sure that it could be worked out. If given enough time logistics could be worked out for matches spread out around the country. But no place has the inherant advantages of the US to pull this off with little to no notice.

Why are people acting like you have to travel the length of the country for every game?
Lets say Egland gets '18 in a revote and the US qualifies, they are in a group where the games are at Old Trafford and Anfield. Why exactly would you worry about how easy it is to travel from London to their? They are an hour apart on a train you can stay in Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Wigan, Warrington, Bolton, Stockport. All relatively large places within an hour of both locations.
Thousands of people wont be travelling across the country for every game, you find out what cities your team is playing in and you stay as close as possible.

One stop for CC (Putney) the a 15 minute walk through a park. Second time I went I left about the 80th minute.
Posted on 6/3/14 at 9:52 am to bamaphan13
Why is CC being discussed in a thread about the WC, they would be lucky to be a venue for the U19s!
London would be Wembley and Emirates, aka the best 2 stadiums in the country.

have you ever used the rail system. Trains run from London to the NW almost every hour all day.
From London to Manchester is around a 2 hour train ride. DC to NYC is about the same distance and takes a hour longer. Thing is London to Manchester is traveling the half country while DC to NYC not so much.

We were not talking short notice. Only a few countries could do that period. US, England, Germany, Japan.

Dude, they play football games there. Sight Lines? What are you talking about? I live in Houston and have been to several Texans games, you can see the game just fine from anywhere in the stadium. Not to mention the massive screens that every big stadium have now. The field dimensions are similar enough where a few slight alterations would be easily made to suit the needs of a soccer pitch.
I have to second this. I went to a USA vs. MEX match at Reliant, and the view of the pitch was awesome from just about anywhere. Great venue.
