US Soccer announces that current #USMNT assistant coach Anthony Hudson will take the team for the upcoming January camp and 2 games. Gregg Berhalter remains out of contract with USSF and a decision has yet to be reached as to his future with the USMNT.

It's been very obvious even before all this that the only way Gregg coaches a full 2nd cycle is if the USSF strikes out on all of their other candidates.

Holy frick it was Claudio

Former United States men's national team captain Claudio Reyna sent multiple messages to U.S. Soccer executives during the World Cup threatening to reveal sensitive details about USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter's past, multiple sources told ESPN.

The messages began after his son, Gio Reyna, was informed he would have a limited role at the tournament.

What a fricking babyback bitch.

Well, guess that’s all for Gio’s US soccer career. What a bizarre post-WC timeline. Like some made for TV drama.

Not at all surprising considering who could have known about the incident and when it the threats came.

The only other option was something like Claudio or his wife telling someone in response to the leak about Gio that Gregg was much more reckless as a teen and that person sending e-mails to USSF. That was the best-case scenario from a drama standpoint.

The report said the threats came when Gio was informed he would have a limited role... so before all that drama even began.

In a statement sent to @FOXSports, Gio Reyna’s mom, Danielle, says she reported the 1991 domestic violence incident involving USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter to USSF sporting director Earnie Stewart after Berhalter’s post-World Cup comments on Gio. Full story to follow.

Now this report says it came post-world cup. That's a little more believable, but idk, this is a fricking mess.

Claudio is a certified retard. Dude effectively killed his sons international career by not being able to keep his mouth shut.

That explains a little more why Gregg felt comfortable speaking out about Gio’s behavior at the Cup.

Oh damn, never mind. Which is the correct sequence of events?

Gregg is just as much to blame for running his mouth about almost sending Gio home.

Someone on Twitter made the comment earlier today that it could have been their way of retaliating for what he did to Gio (speaking out about his childish behavior). Like “Gregg has no right to expose someone for what they did at a young age considering his own history”.

I don’t know why that’s “lol” worthy. You don’t believe her? Seems like it would be easily provable.

“yeah i just decided to bring up an event that happened over 3 decades ago to his boss out of the blue, but I NEVER actually tried to threaten or blackmail him in any way by doing so”

Why?

Gregg doesn’t need to be the coach. We need to move on.

A kid can’t control what a parent does.
Gio will be back.

Saying she doesn't want someone fired but bringing up a 30-year-old domestic dispute of family friends is LOL worthy.
