Killing time til my final appt today, and got to watching highlights of USMNT.

Saw Green score a couple goals.
Got to thinking.....

Basically, in an additional example of the Jurgen idiocy, he brought an undeserved Green to Brasil in 2014 that hyped the shite out of the kid. Wasn't Green's fault.

The literal kid struggled at Bayern, moved to Stuggart, and is now playing in the Bundeslega for them at the age of 21. He is not starting, yet, but may.

Does this board think he may have a future with the USMNT?

Here is an interesting article from last month:

Stars and Stripes FC

quote:

Julian Green is not Christian Pulisic. He never was, and he never will be. While the Klinsmann-fueled hype machine promoted a mythical world in which Green would deliver the U.S. to the promised land, these expectations were unfounded, unwarranted, and wholly unfair. Green may very well return to the U.S. national team. He may not. Regardless, right now, 21-year-old Julian Green is back in the Bundesliga, making good money, and competing for a spot on the national team.

Yes. But he's going to have play and play well to get back into the mix.

The USMNT can always use attacking players who play in the biggest leagues. He's still got plenty of time.

Isn't he a forward?

Will he take the place of Wood/Altidore/Morris?

More of a winger than a striker.

Like War said, he's more of a winger.

I think if he reaches his potential or near it, he'll be x2 the player that Morris will ever be. Morris' health concerns also don't do him any favors.

I don't think Morris will ever be a major player for us.

I think Sargent is better than Morris right now.

While it's cool to give Jurgen shite for fast-tracking Green all the way to Brazil, this wasn't like a Freddy Adu thing where it was all based around hype. This kid was making the Bayern first-team at 19 years old, that has to mean something, especially for a country like us where we are so starved for quality players.

Bayern saw something in him, and while Jurgen fricked everything up by selling a ticket to Brazil to make Green pick the US over Germany and putting the kid in a spot where it was too much too soon, I'm not ready to give up on him yet. I just hope he can get some PT this year with Stuttgart.

Dwyer is easily better than Morris as well.

What's with all the Morris hate? He's 22 years old and last year in his first season had the second most goals for a rookie in MLS all time. He scored more goals than Donovan or Dempsey did in their first seasons. He's had a down year so far but saying he is only half the player Green is (lol) or will never be a significant player for the national team is a little premature.

Yes, he's only 22, but he's a ways down the depth chart and the guys above him aren't going away soon (outside of Dempsey). His health issues won't help him down the line. We also have some good prospects with higher ceilings coming up. I just don't see it working out for him.

I said if Green reaches his potential and continues playing in the Bundesliga that is what will happen.

I find it hard to prove otherwise, especially w/ Morris' diabetes as he gets older.

He also played in 10-12 more games.

Did he? He played a total of 21 minutes during the last 7 games of the season.

According to Transferarkt he played in 10 matches, scoring one goal in 483 minutes for Stuttgart

Yes, and all but 21 of those minutes were during the 1st 10 games he was with Stuttgart. He still only played 21 minutes over the last 7 games.
