Essien was good before the 393302 knee injuries. I really miss his rockets.

He's the reason I'm a Chelsea fan, sad to see what he was reduced to last season.

I think I played with you on that pro club team. I'm the HankRearden guy. Sorry if my playing is as shitty as my posting.

I'm on an internship and left my headset back in BR. It was broken anyway so I needed a new one. I'll be getting a sweet headset off ebay either tomorrow or the day after.

Yeah, Bobloblaw told us who you were. You really need a headset. Makes it tough if we can't talk.

My question to those that watched him in his prime-- how great was he?

Insanely good. Few players had his touch and vision.

Was he best in the world, and where does he rank among the all-time soccer greats?

Top 5 easily. Anyone up that high, it's not hard to make a case for them.

Sometimes it was like Zidane knew where everyone was, and what everyone was about to do. Except he only had eyes on the ball. I don't think I've ever seen someone have that kind of feel for what was around him.

ZZ was prolly my fav player to watch all time. As far as GOAT, I have always thought Pele, but he (Zidane) is without a doubt top 10 and in many top 5's. One player I often see left out and the same goes for this thread is roberto baggio. I don't think he has had a mention but he is in the discussion at least when you talk top 5-10 lists imho.

Oh and btw, Zidane was born in france but is actually algerian I believe.....

Truth be told, most Brazilians will tell you the GOAT Brazilian player was Garincha.

Pele said it was George Best. Ironically both dudes had bad drinking problems.

Zizou is my fave player of alltime. I thought it was ridiculous folks blamed that wc loss on him (the newbies anyway). W/o a gk lesser than Buffon, Italy doesn't win b/c Zizou ALMOST had it with a header.

The Play that Won Italy the Cup

What is the difference between number one and first listed? They can be used interchangeably.

Agree. I'll also add in Oliver Kahn.

I guess. I never saw Pele in his prime. My list is about players I have.
