Lived in Flagstaff for two years. Hockey is up there with my favorite sports. Never had a team close when I grew up in LA. So I adopted te coyotes when we lived there and had season tickets.

Yes the drive sucked

LOL at the people saying Minnesota won't get a team.

Garber loves Minnesota and has repeatedly said another team in the Midwest is a priority. St. Louis is out; MLS would love to have a club there and have worked hard to try to get one there but the fact is there are no viable ownership prospects or financial realities for a club in St. Louis. Minnesota is a prime candidate.

Regarding San Antonio, I agree that the support system is in place but Garber has said on more than one occasion that another team in Texas is not high on their list. That does not bode well for San Antonio, at least for the near future.

Atlanta is a definite and will be the next MLS club...its just a matter of when the announcement comes.

Yeah once they moved to Glendale, the drive started sucking for us too (not as bad as yours though). From Chandler, so the drive is about an hour. We have season tickets to the Cards, Suns, and Dbacks, but I've never been a fan of the Coyotes.

The Twins group want to build a SSS downtown. Which would not have a plastic surface

You can have a Soccer Specific Stadium with a plastic pitch.

Very true. But if MLS didn't want a plastic pitch. It wouldn't make much sense for them to build a SSS with one, now would it?

My issue is that I don't think you can feasibly build a real pitch in Minneapolis with their winters.

MLS season is march-November.
Outside of 2 maybe 3 games I don't see a problem. Green Bay manages to do it.

And again. I haven't seen where artificial turf is a deal breaker

We had two groups get passed over in the past. The Dewitts had expressed interest but supposedly balked at the expansion fees.

Garber will find owners for good markets but not St Louis? No offense but its the best soccer market without a team currently. That fricking Chivas fiasco, having failed franchises in Florida and putting teams back into those same markets. 4 teams total in LA and NY.....

Bah. Im butt hurt and I will not support the MLS anymore.

frick it.

Well, other people clearly don't have a problem putting up the money for a franchise and stadium. So if it's too expensive, that's a them problem, not a MLS problem

Really? You should check on that. NYCFC and the Miami Beckhams are not paying full expansion fees.

Like I said, this league and I are parting ways. I have supported them through purchasing MLS Direct Kick and going to games in KC, Columbus and Chicago yearly.

It is what it is.

Beckham is the only one that paid a discount, it was in his contract and everyone knew that.

NYCFC paid 100 MM. The highest ever

You can say what you want bro, a chunk of that "fee" is going into escrow to help fund the stadium.

Meanwhile Chivas USA is under MLS control, Miami is getting a team that will undoubtedly fail again.

I can agree that St. Louis deserves a team and I am equally disappointed they won't be getting one, but it has everything to do with the ownership groups not stepping up to the plate. The MLS isn't going to cater to them when there are other groups going out of their way just to be in the conversation.

I also think Beckham FC will be an outright success.
