Glad Arsene announced now. Should get a good send off as the season comes to an end.

We are finally moving on. Exciting times. Wenger is and will always be a legend. Now we HAVE to win Europa for Arsene.

Oh nice, thank you Mr Wenger. As much as he pissed me off, I'm prob going to shed a tear.

Sad to see the man leave after leading the club to such new heights but it was time... Is and will always be a legend. Now time to name the stadium after him.
Oh and..
Ancelloti in please.

He is a legend and deserves tons of tributes for what he has accomplished at Arsenal.
And kudos to him for realizing it was indeed time to step down.

I wish Arsene could have changed because we all loved him. He's a damn genius. I hope he takes some time to write his autobiography, because I will read that book backn to front.

And with that, the only manager I’ve ever known at Arsenal has stepped away. I absolutely hate it came this way, but it had to happen. I realize I’m a bit younger than the rest of you, so I wasn’t around for the pre-Wenger years, and I don’t truly know how big Arsenal were before AW. However, I don’t think it is a stretch to say that because of Arsene, Arsenal is a bigger club. And for that, I am grateful.
I wish Wenger would’ve changed, to keep his legacy as pristine as possible. However, in a way, I can understand why he didn’t. He had faith in players for way too long, and that is evident even now.
I feel like he wanted to prove that football can still be played and won the way he did it 20 years ago, and I respect him for that, but it was the wrong decision. Times change, tactics have to change with it.
I’ve always been a huge Wenger supporter, my social media is evidence of that lol, but if I dig back through my post history far enough I can find the breaking point for me (somewhere last season, I remember DB & I talking about it in a thread).
Anyways, this isn’t a post to bash on Wenger.
Even though this is an American sports board, I just would like to say thanks for everything Arsene. He truly is, in my mind, the greatest non-Brit in English football history.

Well said.
I'm a bit in shock still. I guess I knew this day would come, but it just never really felt imminent with the way Arsene was talking before today.
I always had this vision of the Arsenal higher ups not really knowing how to handle this. I pictured them just changing all of the locks at the facility one day and hiding while Wenger fumbles with his keys looking around confused.
Someone must have talked some sense into him. Announce it now so you can get a nice send off from the fans and possibly go out with a trophy.

As a Manchester United fan, which I started following the club in 1995 when I was 16...
Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are really the only manager/club in the EPL who have my utmost respect. The Man United/Arsenal rivalries of the mid/late 90s into the late 2000s are things of folk lore. City & Chelsea are new money, just don't respect that. Tottenham haven't earned it. Liverpool I respect, but not like Arsenal. They played a beautiful style of football and defensively, especially in his early years...they were the best in the EPL.
Au voir, Wenger. Last of the best.

There's some speculation that Arsene wanted to walk away after the end of last season. The reason he didn't is because the club had no plan in place to replace him so Arsene stayed on to help the club transition. If this is true the man deserves sainthood. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were true. It's classic Wenger. Class to the very end.

I mean, the board having no plan would, with regard to any other club or organization, be crazy, but it is completely believable in this scenario. That I said, I don't believe our board is that incompetent. Because if its true they had no plan for Wenger leaving as his own contract was winding down, then they are terrible and we are headed for the gutter.

Indeed he is. I am proud to have supported his team.

Any bloom off the Jardim rose with them struggling a bit more this season?
He’s still my first choice. At 43, he could stay awhile and I think he’d win league hardware.
Of course, I’d be thrilled with Ancelotti or Allegri too, though being older, they could be “bridge” managers.
Please media, stop this bullshite speculation about Arteta. The Arsenal manager’s chair is no place for on-the-job training.

Personally, I’d rather have Enrique.

Found on twitter, from David Ornstein.
If this is true (I believe it is, David is a really knowledgeable guy on things Arsenal) it just makes me respect Wenger so much more.
He truly is a classy guy, I loved hearing about how he would invite opposing managers into his office after the game to chat and have a glass of wine. Classy man from day 1, he built a legacy here that will never be forgotten. Truly the last of a dying breed.

More respect for Wenger, but Arsenal what the heck were you doing?
No plan in place to search for another manager? What about now, have you been in talks with people behind the scenes?
