It is, but it is difficult because he really loves Arsenal. But, this is the best time for him to go. He is still young and can contribute at a new club. Plus, some rumors floating that we may try and sign Banega. He is an upgrade for sure.

Short term, I know. But that is where the focus needs to be.

Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira’s transfer to Arsenal looks set to be confirmed soon after the Sampdoria president revealed a deal had already been completed.

Massimo Ferrero told viewers live on Italian TV: "Torreira left for €30m. I bought him from Pescara when no one believed in him. We placed a bet and we won, paying just €3m.
Looks like Torreira is done.

Did Torreira play at all in Uruguay's first game? I know he didn't start, and he's not starting again today, but i wasn't sure if he came on at some point in their fist game.

I didn't catch the whole game.

For like 5 minutes. He could provide a little more creativity from the midfield against the Saudis. Hope he plays a little more than in the first match.

Yeah. I may get to watch about the last 20 minutes during my lunch break so I'm hopefully he's been subbed on by the time I tune in.

I thought he looked good. Nothing flashy but comfortable on the ball and always in good position.

He's definitely small though.

I thought he was really good today. His positional discipline was terrific. Made a few tackles, interceptions, and a couple of blocks. He looked comfortable on the ball. His passing isn't very ambitious but it doesn't need to be. He does play quick short passes and recycles possession well enough.

Torreira's key moments

7 – Momentarily caught out of position as he is unable to control a wayward pass from Nahitan Nandez, but Russia's counter-attack comes to nothing

17 – Alert to cut out a dangerous low cross from Cheryshev, sending the ball out for a corner

23 – GOAL! His out-swinging corner is partially cleared by Artem Dzyuba but it falls to Diego Laxalt, whose deflected shot flies in

35 – Gets across quickly deep in his own half to steal the ball from Dyuba before winning a foul from the striker

57 – Wriggles away from a group of Russian players before being pulled back by Dzyuba, who is penalised

63 – Releases Suarez with an incisive first-time path into the right channel, but the striker's cut-back is cleared

70 – Rare mistake as he is tackled by Roman Zobnin after collecting Diego Godin's free kick in his own half

78 – Takes a knock to the calf following a coming together with Daler Kuzyayev but he shrugs it off and continues

94+5 – Attempts first shot at goal from 25 yards but it's blocked by Sergei Ignashevich
