What in the living frick are you talking about?

But just saying the English people won’t accept it won’t make it not happen.
The blowback from this has included the PM openly stating he is going to stop this, Parliament stating they are going to stop this, and the Prince of Wales saying they are "concerned," which is an unusual statement given the family stays out of politics generally.

There’s global money pushing this.
So?
quote:
I do hope it fails. But it won’t be because people from Liverpool who cant even afford season tix anymore are mad.
It will because the English constituency has already responded, making it all the more likely this won't go ahead without serious repercussions. Parliament made it clear to the club owners that they are only "temporary custodians" of these clubs. What American owners do not get is that these are not business. These are sporting clubs. The fact that American owners do not want to put up the transfer fees to compete with Man City and PSG is their own fault. Since the mega-owner came, we've seen multiple examples of teams doing well, built over time, with youth players often in the mix. Napoli was recently in Serie C. Ajax were in crisis with their board. Why these things become existential crises for American owners in particular, and not the owners who understand what football clubs are, is primarily the issue.

Just push these six to the bottom of the table and three go down. frick all of them.
Pretty sure this will push them to the ESL lock, stock & barrel

Just go with a points deduction large enough that Sheffield gets un-relegated.
Just take the club away from Stan. Please take it away from him. Or rather, give him an ultimatum, start in League 2 or sell the club to the supporters trust.

Are you referencing COVID? Because if not...this is the most nonsensical statement made on this board...and that says A LOT.

I was being hyperbolic....sort of.
It’s not like they can completely abandon their domestic league. The FA has complete control over that, and these 6 have to play domestically.

quote:Cool. They’ll have to go into the Super League with only English players when foreign player work permits are axed. Going to be riveting stuff, definitely working out better economically vs. the UCL
Pretty sure this will push them to the ESL lock, stock & barrel
It’s not happening

Jordan Henderson has called an emergency meeting of the club captains. Really hoping they would include Rashford in that.
Between Henderson and Rashford I have faith that something meaningful could be done to impact change on this.

So what do we think happens here?
League just doesn’t end up happening?

Roma, who were among the clubs Florentino Perez said may have a chance to join the super league in the near future, say they are "strongly opposed to this 'closed' system, as it fundamentally flies in the face of the spirit of the game that we all love."
Posted on 4/20/21 at 10:16 am to I Bleed Garnet
quote:If teams keep rejecting the idea of joining, I think this Super League is dead. The combination of this and possible government intervention may start to make some of the "Founders" begin to back track. The public reaction to this league is the reason we see teams such as Bayern Munich, Leipzig, Roma, and others denouncing the league.
So what do we think happens here?
League just doesn’t end up happening?

Me personally, I'm neither for or against the ESL.
I'm a man of natural progression, and one thing I've learned being in the profession I'm in...is that nothing last forever & change is inevitable. A lot of people are afraid of change, but I've come to embrace. It's the only fact in life.
I'm going to watch football regardless of the results of this.

Sky Sports is reporting that the British government is considering revoking work permits for foreign players at the six Super League clubs.

So punishing the players that almost all are certainly against the entire idea.
Sounds like an awful idea.

I'm of the don't overhaul what isn't broken mindset.
Not that there can't be changes to the existing system in-place, but the CL/EL is one of, if not the best, sporting spectacles on the planet. Why destroy something when the only benefit in doing so is for the current owners, and not the Club.
