How are they going to fight for a spot in Europe when they are literally guaranteed a spot in the Super League?

How? by winning enough to get enough points in their domestic league to finish top 4

Why can't the domestic leagues just threaten to kick these teams out? Seems like that would stop this in its tracks.

Wait do you think they’re going to play in the Super League and the Champions League?

why do you assume this, specifically?

Because there is a limited amount of money available through TV deals. The TV deals for La Liga are already stilted, so much so the league is far worse off than it was in 2002, for example. I don't see a situation in which an infusion of money into rich clubs who won't be at the behest of any threat of relegation, or making the UCL, will lead to an increase in the standard of play. If there is a reward mechanism put in place for the weakest team that is guaranteed to stay, the incentives become even more perverse and idiotic.

That won’t be necessary if they’re already guaranteed a place in the Super League

I think his argument is “why not?”
Unless they are banned from competing in the champions league, why wouldn’t they also try to compete in it?
What different would another European League be if they aren’t banned from anything else
It’s gonna be a ton of games for a team like Manchester City to play, but what is to say that if they are allowed to partake in this and all the other leagues, they won’t try to win all 5?
I think there are a ton of hypotheticals in what’s going to happen next
Will other leagues start banning teams involved in in the super league? (UCL, domestic cups, domestic leagues etc)

The schedule is already heavily congested, where are you going to find dates to play these extra games?

Why wouldn’t they? Unless they are banned, you don’t think Pep would try to win all 5 competitions Man City is in?

Because there is not a small likelihood they will be kicked out and sanctioned severely.

naw. this likely doesn't take away from other TV deals and just creates a new revenue stream for these clubs

unfair? sure, but not as a "taking" mechanism

i think in time you would see the ESL evolve to fix this

the problem is that UEFA is losing its mind and making threats 100x worse than what issues the ESL poses, which has made ESL do some questionable things (like include fricking Tottenham ). if UEFA wasn't acting like a 12 year old girl throwing a temper tantrum, things like that likely could be worked out

Without CL domestic leagues are also limiting new investment into teams. You won’t have a RedBull, or Saudi money or American money buying any teams and dumping tons of money into a division 3 team to climb up the pyramid and play in CL.

i'm sure the ESL would schedule around UCL specifically

I assume they’ll find a way.
It’s for sure a lot of games, but they’ll find a way

Is there not still financial incentive to fair better in the domestic league? Does 3rd place not earn greater reward than 8th?

Honest question...

Between domestic league games and cup games there is no way to play both the champions league and Super League. It’s just way to many games. There are not enough days in the year

We will see. The TV deals have grown more lopsided in Spain with massively negative effects for club football. It was only through the vision of the FA that Spain won international competitions, otherwise the domestic situation would not contribute to conducive national team situations.

The presence of Agnelli on the ECA is driving some blowback. Top ten anime betrayal.

see this is an assumption. we don't have any real data yet

i'm sure the squads can afford even better depth with the extra money, too

I think it’s around two million more for each higher position, for example 18th place team would earn 4 million more than the 20th team

Yes they’ll find away but viewers will suffer because the level of play will decrease. Look at this year with the congestion and covid. Bad teams all around. Why would a fan of the game want worse than this already bad year with injuries galore?

Whoppie . Watered down teams to play across more competitions. Soccer fans everywhere are rejoicing. Who doesn’t want to see MLS players now wearing Man U and Liverpool Jerseys competing in whatever league they come up with next
