Shame on the MLS for not stepping in.

Shame on NYCFC for basically lying through this whole thing.

Props to City for doing what the frick they want.

But this proves NYCFC is what we all thought it was. Despite them claiming other wise.

Pretty much agree on all counts.

This is a complete embarassment for the MLS and NYCFC. If I was a season ticket holder, I would tell them they owe me money back.

And also tell Frank to GFH once he got there.

In the long run, I'm not sure I blame Frank as he has a chance for CL and PL titles, but clearly there were blatant lies by all parties on who had the rights and ownership of what.

This whole ordeal shows the flaws in the structure of the MLS

You mean how do you put a horse out to pasture if he's not ready to go?

If City lose to Barcelona in the CL and assuming there aren't a bunch of Mids injured, I think he may still go to NYC in March.

um then NYCFC/MLS would have to terminate his loan early which cost money.

NYCFC source says Lampard's contract is owned by Man City & isn't a loan. Only adds questions & doesn't take away from message being sent.

An NYCFC source told SI.com on Wednesday that Man City owns Lampard's contract, not NYCFC, which means he's not in fact on loan there. But that doesn't take away fromt he message being sent and only suggests that NYCFC and Man City were misleading the public all along.

this is fricking absurd

the MLS should be ashamed

If I bought season tickets for NYCFC, I'd be PISSED.

Saw where someone online went to call their rep to cancel their tickets, and the line was busy

Went back to Pellegrini to clarify whether that means Lampard will never end up in New York. He says he can't, or won't, answer that one.

Scoring the winner for City today won't send Super Frank to MLS any sooner

No way MLS/NYCFC comes out of this unscathed if Frankie never plays a match in NYC right?

What's messed up is that NYCFC said (and continue to say on Lampard's player bio on their site) that that they signed Lamps as a free agent. Signed. Not man city signed. Now man city says they actually hold the contract, whereas NYCFC said it was a loan. Who actually has his contract, and who is lying? If NYCFC deceived fans to increase ticket sales they could be in for some shite. I bet Garber is bursting an aneurysm right now.

Not really a shock seeing how well he has played for them. Kinda shitty for the fans that he won't be there on opening day.

If the actual MLS clubs owned the contracts and not the league then this wouldn't be as big issue with NYCFC and Man City part of the same ownership group and who he signed a deal with. But them saying he was never an MLS player is wild.

But MLS holds the rights to all its players.

Man City and NYCFC are just making their own rules out there and the MLS is bending over and grabbing its ankles.

Many people were against this team and its ownership group coming in and its already happening before the season starts.

Its infuriating as a fan of American sports. The MLS shouldn't be a play thing for other countries' clubs to manipulate and take advantage of for their own gain. Its effectively a AAA baseball team if this is allowed to happen.

I already hate NYCFC but this adds to it more.

The MLS is getting embarrassed in all this.

The whole time the club said we will not be some second fiddle to Man City blah blah blah.

All lies, David Villa on his half season loan in the A-League only played 4 times.
