BBC video here

The squad failed to win any of its three games in Brazil, and was knocked out in the group stages.

Its players looked sombre as they arrived at an airport near Seoul, where angry fans threw handfuls of sweets at them, which is considered an insult in the country.

I know I probably shouldn't, but I find that hilarious.

Let me be clear. I don't find them disgracing the players funny at all.

I do find throwing candy at a person as a form of disrespect funny.

They didn't have that good of a team to begin with. What were the fans expecting?

Sorry, I didn't mean to respond to you. My post was just a response to the video in general.

I'm sitting at my desk, waiting to go work out and then grab lunch.

I'd love it if someone pelted me with toffees. Ideally, chocolate covered ones.

It's cool because you're right. It's a shitty thing to disgrace your country's players like that. At the same time, throwing candy is an awfully strange way to do it.

I think disgracing them is funny and deserved. they played like a bunch of thugs in Brazil. they should have had everyone with red cards. they were dirty as frick and lost accordingly. frick them.

This. And outside of their BS 2002 run where they had the deck stacked in their favor they've never been anything special. Not sure where their fans elevated expectation comes from

Asia is just a weak arse confederation. Moving the Socceroos in helped a tiny bit but sheesh.

Translated though, when Koreans throw that candy it means... "Eat yeot (shite)". I know my parents and I think this is a disgrace as Koreans. Looks childish and what could you expect from this team? They looked HORRIBLE trying to qualify.

Asia does suck in qualifying more so than CAF and CONCACAF. If it's possible they should move Russia and Turkey to Asia since its not that farfetched.

0 wins, 9 losses, and 3 draws among 4 teams. The team that looked the best(Australia) lost all 3 games.

Too bad Tim Howard wasn't there, he'd have caught 16 of 17.

That's a weird cultural insult. Throwing candy. Not shoes. Not dung.

Koreans need to stay away from Mardi Gras, some candy gets thrown there.

That is wierd if you think about it.

South Korea- You piss them off and they throw candy at you.

North Korea- You piss them off.........

You posted these exact same sort of comments in each of Korea's game threads. I've never seen someone so angry at an Asian squad before. I haven't see you post anywhere else here so I've sort of made up this backstory for you that you fought in the Korean War and were backstabbed by traitorous Korean "allies" who shot your buddy (who you had been with through all of training and who you had promised to protect) and then hightailed it, with you emerging unscathed but left clutching your mortally wounded friend as the last bits of life drained from his eyes, knowing you had failed when you had promised his mother, before you both deployed, that you would "bring her baby home safe."

The war is long gone, and consequently your sole recourse is to post angry comments about the South Korean soccer team on the tigerdroppings soccer board.

Now I'm picturing TH03 as Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino, before he experienced his ideological transformation.

Maybe one day a nice Asian boy will move in next door to him, a lasting friendship will emerge, and he will grow to celebrate the South Koreans in a World Cup.
