In the last 10 years Liverpool has been to the champions league final twice, winning it once. And also another trip to the semi's.
Has won both the FA Cup and the League cup.
Has played in Europe either champions league or Europa. 8 times the majority being the champions league.

Can't disagree with you. Anyone who picked ManU, Liverpool, Chealski or City post buyout are most definitely bandwagoners. Even Spurs and Everton are close to this as well. But at least with ManU it's all out in the open and those fans aren't trying to pretend that they support some kind of underdog.

there is a recent trend of people picking pool over the last 2 years and then claiming they're not bandwagon fans

It's amazing that so many of you have no fricking clue what this word means. Being a fan of a foreign team makes you exactly that; it doesn't have anything to do with the term "bandwagon". Nobody is going to take anything you say seriously if you cannot display a basic understanding of the words you are using.

I always thought a bandwagon fan was a fan who jumped from team to team. For example, a Bulls fan during the Jordan era who switched to being a Lakers fan during the Kobe/Shaq era who switched to being a Heat fan during the LBJ era.

I don't really understand how the two fan bases have come to hate each other as much as they do. The historical demographics of the two set of fans (at least locally) are pretty much identical. It's not like Inter vs. Milan (blue bloods vs. blue collar) or Real vs. Barca (Spanish nationalists vs. Catalan nationalists) or Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss (farmers vs. lawyers).

There's really only 2 ways you can claim someone as a bandwagon fan.
1)Picking a team that is popular. The team might be popular for different reasons (current success, popular players, managers, etc.) but the root of your fandom stems from choosing them when they are popular.
2)Picking up on soccer as a whole during periods when it is popular (World Cup, big games, cup finals, etc.) This is more towards a casual fan than #1, and are therefore more bearable than bandwagon fans that become "diehards."
Now, it doesn't really matter, to me at least, if you bandwagon onto a team when they are popular as long as you stick with them when they are down. I would agree that it is shallow to pick a team based solely on positive results, but that's the person choosing's prerogative.
The thing that I am seeing on here that dumbfounds me every time I see it is that one can bandwagon based on geographical location. Location has nothing to do with bandwagoning. At all.
TL;DR The bandwagon argument is stupid.
