But you see, it isn't reality. Because itll never happen. Comparing UConn or the USWNT to the men is as asinine as the MSB "Could Bama beat Cleveland" threads. That doesn't discount their achievements, and their world cup is as real as the men's. I know theres some reasons to hate on the USWNT right now, I get it, but just because they're women isn't one of them.

ETA I should add it isn't reality on the basis of a competitive environment, I know all the stories already.

How much do the Senior Men’s players make just from their USSF salary?
Like is their some kind of salary associated with it?
Or is it just a bonus per cap?

The salary for the USMNT is more, but it's not guaranteed, whereas the USWNT has players sign contracts with guaranteed salaries.

That's always been my biggest issue with the women's beef. They shout to the mountaintops that they want equal pay, but any and every time they are asked if they are willing to give up the guaranteed money they squirm and give a non-committal answer.

"Just because they are women"

Dude, the entire background of this is that they WANT TO BE TREATED AS EQUAL TO AND COMPARED FAVORABLY TO the men.

They have said as much themselves. Wtf.

So a player like Alex Morgan?
How much do you think she makes just from the USWNT?
I tried googling this but it just gives me what she makes in total a year and I don’t know how much of that is Nike, Volkswagen, Budweiser etc.

I know nothing about how national teams pay. Or the finances of women’s sports

Also, is that “guaranteed contract” tied into playing professionally here?

Morgan is definitely one of the best players in the world, but she’s playing in a professional league based in the US. Is it because it actually is the best? Or she doesn’t wanna leave home?

She played a few years for Lyon, I would assume they’d pay more and are a much better team/club.

Is this wrong?

That entire argument is based on their on the field success, not if they can outplay the men head to head. That's why they use the silly WC year to show they brought in more revenue.

I'm not 100% sure how it works, but from my understanding, it's basically like the DP rule in MLS.

There's a limit to how many USWNT-signed players you can have on your NWSL roster, but I think the USWNT pays the contract of those players and not the NWSL.

Again, I could be totally wrong here, but from the way I understand it, if you've received a significant amount of call-ups from the USWNT, then your professional contract is paid for by the USSF, not the NWSL, but in addition to that, you get a bonus for every call-up you receive.

For example, Alex Morgan is a USWNT stalwart, so she is under contract by them. She plays for the Orlando Pride, but they don't pay her salary, USSF does. Morgan also gets an additional paycheck for every USWNT call-up she receives.

Whereas, lets say Morgan has some Orlando teammate that is a young up and comer that just got her first call-up for a USWNT friendly. She gets the paycheck for the call-up, but isn't necessarily under contract by the USSF, so Orlando still pays her professional contract.

I hope that makes some sense, I feel like I kind of talked myself in circles.

Good to see the women's domestic league pay is as confusing as the men's Broski

Makes tons of sense
But i guess the question is, is the NWSL the best women’s professional league?
We all know the MLS is probably on the level of League 2 in England.

We hear all the time about how Lyon has the best players in the world and consistently wins their version of the Champions League.
But is the NWSL better?

I actually just checked.
The French League pays on average the most

Lyon pays on average it’s players 182k a year
NWSL pays 42k

Why wouldn’t some of the better players go to France?

Or is it more complicated than that?

If you have a problem with the US scoring 13 then stop them.

They should try to score as many goals as possible every game.

Either get better or stop wasting your country’s money.

It is not the US women’s soccer teams responsibility to stop scoring. It is your responsibility to stop them.

They don't have to play in the NWSL if they don't want to as they aren't signed with their clubs but with the USSF. Both Carli Lloyd and Christen Press missed the start of a season while playing for European clubs and I have no idea why they didn't stay over there.

There is a question of sportsmanship whether you like it or not. Our team just played a pei wei soccer team and humiliated them. In most sports, you let off the gas a tad when you have clearly beaten the other team through various means like subbing in players or changing strategy. It didn’t apppesr we did either tonight. I don’t have a big problem with it but it does beg the question of sportsmanship.

ETA that should have read pee wee not pei wei.

Lol no. It’s somewhere between championship and league one. Depth would hinder most teams from competing in the championship.
