The Women’s National Team is just so unlikable. I won’t be rooting for them in the World Cup, and I’m definitely not impressed by them running it up on Thailand.

All good.

I’m not a fan of the dikey looking ones either

But I only pull for losers (Gamecocks, Braves, Hornets, Panthers, Hurricanes, USWNT) I wanna pull for a winner atleast once

It's the world cup, they should absolutely celebrate every win. If it was a friendly maybe not.

They were doing orchestrated celebrations against semi-pro players. Just lame as hell. Add in to the fact that they’re masquerading as freedom fighters, just makes them all seem petty and small

Why wouldn’t some of the better players go to France?

Or is it more complicated than that?

A lot of them play in Europe during the NWSL offseason

Gotcha

See I was looking at this and I didn’t see the big ones though
Morgan hasn’t played in Europe since 2017
Ertz has only played in the US
Lloyd hasn’t played in Europe since 2017
Rapinoe since 2014, Heath 14 and Press since 18

I kind of think that in their contract with the USWNT it says they have to play in the NWSL

I neither support nor am upset over the celebrations.

I do think it somewhat conflicts with the "we're oppressed!" and "we're role models!" themes that are constantly in the press. The truth is that the women's team has as much off the field coverage as they do on field. That is not the same for men.

Part of that is our (the public) fault, part of it is the media's fault, but plenty of it is the players' fault. If you pose topless for SI and use your looks for fame and money, then whine about being treated differently as a woman, then claim you have the extra burden of being a role model to girls, then dance of the graves of some church league-level national team...c'mon.

Actually no it isn’t anymore

Being subsidized by MLS and USSF is its downfall

While the euro leagues are fully funded by the biggest clubs in the world and are getting better attendance

The infrastructure in the European leagues is mirroring the men’s game with youth academies and everything

While in America the college system is still the main source

Another exaggerated controversy designed by the media to get more eyeballs and publicity. If we dominated and did not score enough a different "story" would be created.

You play like you practice. So practice in a scrimmage like this for future games. If soccer doesn't want this, create a 10 goal rule!

Could the best women’s players play in europe (mostly looking at the French league) full time?

I feel like they only play in the US women’s pro league because the USSF requires them to

The best league at the end of the day will be the English league

Every top six club is investing big time in it

City ladies play in a stadium light years ahead of all NWSL grounds that are not new MLS SSS

Got it
And Carli Lloyd played for them a few years back.

I understand she’s 36 now but it’s just puzzling why more don’t attempt it.

Of the major players I’ve seen It looked like none of played in Europe in 2019

There’s no shot clock or turnover on downs in soccer. A vastly superior team has complete control and it’s very hard to “back off” without embarrassing the other team even more or straight up giving the ball away (which again would be a massive sign of disrespect).

Meh the Dream Team didn’t stop celebrating dunks over Angola up by 70. I don’t see an issue here.

Don’t remember people doing it a few years ago when we beat Nigeria by a million either (in basketball).

Why do these things have to correlate? They don’t become less of role models by celebrating each goal. Y’all sound like a bunch of people that think everyone deserve trophies. Thailand beat Indonesia 13-0 in a women’s friendly a year or two ago.

I thought the celebrating was maybe a little much and felt a little bad for Thailand, but at the same time I’m not going to be upset with someone scoring in the World Cup. I’m sure that’s an incredible feeling.

As far as the swimsuit thing goes, I have a hard time faulting someone for wanting to make an extra hundred grand or however much they make from doing that. It also doesn’t make someone less of a role model for posing in SI.
