That's kinda my point. Mexicans retain Spanish as their first language whereas Asians make their parents' language their second.

And you're speaking to my point, I think that if your first language is not English, then you'll retain the accent because that is how you learn to speak.
ETA: And it depends on your surroundings as well, if you are immersed in people with similar accents, then you'll develop that accent as well. Most Mexicans grow up with each other, so I would assume they retain their accents. But I'm pulling this out of my arse, so it may not be true at all
