Premier League game in London

Taking a trip across the pond this spring and would like to check out a soccer game while I'm there. I don't really follow the premier league or soccer in general, but something like this has always been a bucket list event for me, especially if it coincides with a trip I was planning on taking anyway. Currently eyeing the Man U vs Chelsea game on May 18th.
Anyone done this recently and have any advice on making this a memorable experience? Is there a specific ticketing website or group i should go through for tickets? Or are stubhub/most of the American ticket vendors the way to go? Wasn't sure if there was a different system in Europe.
TIA

If I were you I would rather see Arsenal vs Newcastle on the same day and time

This is the feedback i was looking for. I have no team allegiances, just looking for a good gameday and stadium experience. I'm staying closer to Stamford Bridge where the Man U game is but if Arsenal Newcastle will be a better matchup, I can make the hike to that one.

The hospitality route is probably your best bet for tickets. Those usually include food and drink so they can be quite expensive for Premier League matches. They normally go on sale a month or so before the match so I would check the club's website regularly. Another option is to go see a smaller club like QPR, Millscum, Palace, Fulham, or Brentford. Loftus Road (QPR) is a classic old ground. Good luck and enjoy.

ManU/Chelsea is going to be ridiculously expensive. Try Crystal Palace, Fulham or Brentford for more reasonable (but still pricy) options.

If I had to pick, I'd go Fulham v Brentford. Never been to a Darby (rivalry match) so it could be a fun way to check that box.
ETA: west ham v Nottingham could be intriguing too.
Having said all that, Chelsea v ManU would be a great match to see. The others being mentioned thought should also be a great experience. Club sizes may not be as big but the passion from the fan base is there.

I am a Spurs fan and even though we have the nicest stadium in the PL, I would go to Fulham home game.

The Fulham supporters are definitely a prawn cocktail crowd but Craven Cottage is a nice, intimate ground. Also, that part of London (Putney and Parson's Green) is filled with excellent restaurants and pubs. The Bricklayers Arms in Putney may be my favorite boozer in London.

What dates are you there? The Championship Playoff Final is around that time and is played at Wembley. It will have an infinitely better atmosphere than your average Premier League fixture. If Sunderland makes the final that place will be a madhouse.

Was just at Craven Cottage and you can buy prosecco in the regular concourses lol
it is a cool classic english ground though
tried to go here but was slammed after the match, got into Duke’s Head nearby which was pretty good, Bricklayers Arms looked elite though.

Not sure Sunderland want to go up just to see Isak twice a year

Yeah. You need to go on a non-match day. I've been to Craven Cottage for a couple of Leeds matches and introduced my Leeds pals to the Bricklayers several years ago. They still rave about it. Any spot with Timmy Taylor's Landlord on cask is a gem in London. Putney is the spot that the Oxbridge crowd gravitates to after graduation so it has some excellent pubs and curry spots.

Went to a match at Stamford Bridge. Got tickets through our hotel at the time and avoided the riff raff, but definitely paid e$tra for it.
If you want classy, recommend going to the Churchill Arms just west of Kensington Gardens. Pretty spot with excellent Thai food.

London doesn’t have my favorite pubs in the UK but of course being so big there are out there. Chizik had a few as does the east end. The Palm Tree near Mile End feels like WW2 is still ongoing.

Difficult to find a good pub in London. That's why the Bricklayers is such a gem. Prospect of Whitby, Lamb & Flag, and The George Inn are also pubs that I would recommend in London. I prefer my usual hangouts in God's County, though.
