Good to see Flanno back, but I thought his quickness was lacking the last time we saw him, and I fear what Sterling will be able to do to him. ]
Think he took care of this fear in the first minute. It'll be interesting to see the rotation at FB the rest of the season.
While he had some great moments (racing Sterling back to intercept what would have been a glorious Sterling chance (and likely flub) was my favorite), he still does not look as quick as he used to. And he wasn't particularly quick to begin with.
But he does read the game MUCH better than Moreno. And interestingly, he played on the right with Clynne on the left.
Yesterday was a lot of fun to watch, but I think it was pretty clear City did not come into it with the same intensity and interest as we did. And thats strange because they are now pretty much out of the fight for the league title. And squarely now in a dog fight for top 4 with ManU, and possibly others (hopefully us - only 6 back with a bunch left to play).
Lallana was great, Firmino was great, Milner was grea. I thought Lovren and Toure did pretty well dealing with Aguero. I thought Origi did well enough - he wasn't always moving, but he moved a lot more than Bentenke and opened some space for others.

Also, haven't found a GIF of it yet (only a streamable off reddit) but Flannos tackle of Sterling two minutes into the match was great - but in the background seing Hendo so excited and clapping is awesome too. You knwo Hendo probably still isn't happy about Sterling and how he went about trying to leave last year.

Real damn shame we couldn't have twatted them like this over the weekend.
I thought the same thing, but Im glad to grab the points. Up to 8th in the table and 6 points out of the 4th/5th spot. Again, probably too late to really make a run for top 4, but wow, that squad yesterday was nice to see. Relentless attack after relentless attack, and holding possession in the midfield. 5Deep text me this nugget yesterday shortly after the match...
Roberto Firmino has had a direct hand in 10 goals in his last 7 league appearances for LFC, 6 goals and 4 assists.

Call me a fool, but I'm not giving up yet. The top 4, sans LC and Spurs, is in shambles. 10 league games left. If we can just win the ones we are supposed to win (Bournemouth, watford, stoke, Newcastle, WBA) and get 6 points between Chelsea, Spurs, Everton, Southhampton...I think we can make a push. I realize that's a lot of "if" but we need to sell out for a strong finish, and I think Klopp will have their minds set to task

He had some badass tackles all night.
Sterling certainly had his number a few times but for a guy like Flanno vs a world class athlete like Sterling, that's nothing to hang your head about.
That full field run and tackle possibly saved a goal, although I bet Sterling would have shanked the finish.

Eh, they deserve more credit than this.
Aguero is a fricking PEST, they pretty much dominated him back there. Toure especially. And Lovren was no slouch, no frick ups and generally solid all night.
How many shots did they even have on goal? Like 4?

Totally agree here. They played out of their minds, though it helped we held the ball on their half of the pitch for most of the 2nd half. Either way, it was nice to see these two squash most offensive threats with ease. Especially Lovren. If only he can figure out how to make these matches a more consistent occurrence, maybe then we can see some return on investment haha

All that without our two best players (Cou and Studge). Though I really think Lallana's movement and Firmino are starting to work well together.

I wouldn't say top 4 is over - City looks uninterested in the league and the longer they can stay in the FA cup and CL, the better. They also look tired - even in the Cap Cup finals they looked tired. Man U will drop a lot of points. And we have a decently easy schedule coming up. I think its possible, but it will be hard to do.

They played well - but Aguero also looked tired from this weekend. We dominated City in the midfield too, so they were able to concentrate on what was near them and not worry about as many runs, etc. Its also obvious that a City with a motivated Toure is completely different from a city without Toure or with a unmotivated Toure.

No gif, but...

The 23-year-old marked his first league start since May 2014 by crunching Sterling within the first 30 seconds of Wednesday evening’s clash, simultaneously rousing the Anfield crowd and his team-mates.
Sterling, of course, left Merseyside in acrimonious fashion last summer, and still hasn’t been forgiven by most of the Liverpool faithful.
And Flanagan has revealed that his tackle was indeed one for the fans.

‘Me and Raheem were good mates at Liverpool but now he’s gone to City it is just business on the pitch.’

Without a doubt the moment of the year, so far.

Buddy Heild from Oklahoma reminds me of Sturridge somewhat.

Interesting lineup... Going with the midweek attack...
Clyne can def use the rest..
Strong bench..

Wow,how'd we pull that one out? Glad we got the 3 points at Selhurst

Wow... We were lucky, but I'll take it... I can't tell if he barely nicked him or not... This TV has the fricking captions on... Either way, 3 pts... What a gift.. We were due!!
Posted on 3/6/16 at 9:30 am to TFTC
Aye, a gift. That's exactly the word to describe this one.

If he did nick him, go down and let the ref decide... No problem with it...
You know any other team would do it against us...

That's how it's done. When you're running full speed in the box, if you feel any touch at all from behind, you go down. That's basic. 94', all level.... any striker in the world would have done the same. Call it what you want.

Definite contact with Delaney's knee on Benteke's heel. Certainly wasn't a flop. 99.99% of strikers playing pro ball would have gone down in that moment. We looked so much better when Milner went off the pitch. Take the 3 and don't look back. Pardew deserves any bad luck that comes his way.
