Clear contact. Stupid tackle. You have to stay on your feet in the box

Yeah, I'm on my phone or I would post it... But Gary Lineker posted a gif on Twitter that removed any doubt that it was the right call... Roll on red men!

Crazy match. That's why this is the greatest game in the world.

He definitely clipped Benteke's left foot. But, as soon as Benteke felt it, he dropped like a rock.

Smart IMO.

Exactly. I've been saying for months now, I tell all of my players at any contact at all in the box you go down. Its just how the game is called now. You can be prison raped in the box and if you don't hit the deck you don't get the call. As long as referees won't call fouls in the box like they do on the rest of the field every player needs to embellish contact. Not dive. Never dive. But absolutely embellish any contact made.

Its soft as soft gets. But its a penalty. Don't go to ground behind the attacker in the box. Don't make contact. Its cut and dry. Is it fair? Ideally, no. Practically, absolutely.

I think he was only sliding because he thought bentenke was going to shoot. But bentenke put an extra touch on it and he was committed. He tried to avoid him but it was too late.

Delaney has officially lost it on Instagram. He won't stop posting pictures and making excuses. Pretty funny stuff.

I mean, it was a 50/50 penalty. I wouldn't have been outraged or suprised if it wasn't called. But if you take out the foot of a guy, and he goes down, its likely to be called. And Bentenke wasn't looking for contact there - there was no dragging of his leg to initiate the contact, etc.

I think Lovren deserves some credit. Since Klopp came, he's arguably been our best CB (to be fair, Sakho had to come back from an injury early which likely led to some poor form). He was oustanding yesterday.

I am still uncertain as to our inability to break down a team that is playing organized defense. I mean, we had two fluke goals yesterday, but otherwise, had a real tough time creating good chances.

We need more talent. Bottom line.

What perplexed me was the whole looking better in attack with 10 men. I don't know if that was a product of Milner coming off or Cou coming on.

We aren't going to consistently break down an organized defense with the current roster. It's what has me a little worried about the upcoming matches with ManU. For whatever reason we can't break them down, regardless of their form. Hopefully a rested Sturridge will be the difference.

I think the biggest contributor to that was how narrow we played. With both of our lineups, the midfield was PACKED and we kept trying to play through the middle with Origi the only person that was really able to stretch their defense.

When we went down to 10, that took a player out of the midfield and gave more space to operate.

That's my take anyway. And I think that helps illustrate why Klopp is interested in bringing in at least one wide player.

I'd like to see a lineup of:

Clyne - Lovren - Sakho - Flanagan
Hendo - Can - Lallana
Coutinho - Firmino
Sturridge

against the Mancs. I don't think it'll happen because we wouldn't have much in spark/creativity to bring off the bench, but I really want to see what it could produce in attack.

Can't happen against manU as Flanagan is not eligible for euro games.

I just want to F them up.

This has to be one of my least favorite Man U teams of all time and that is saying a lot. So much utter scum all over that pitch and they're just complete shite.

That being said, I imagine Mata will make us pay as usual, he's eligible for Europa right? I can never keep up with the red card rules.

I know he's ineligible, but the though of him going up against Martial or Memphis scares the crap outta me...

If he can handle Sterling, he'd be fine against either of them.

I know Memphis has come back a bit but I still wouldn't call him "on form". Martial has cooled a bit too.

Flanagan loses some physical battles but he is always smart and knows his limits. Really enjoy watching him as a player tbh. Got a shite ton of Carragher in him.

What do you think about Henderson moving forward? He's looked like the worst player on the pitch the last few weeks in my opinion. I know he's the skipper but my God, stop passing the ball to the other team. Stop calling for the ball when you're 40 yards away from goal. Stop lofting it into the box for no one in particular. Right before the Benteke goal we had a solid series of possessing the ball and were probing just outside the box, and Henderson just passes it into a crowd of people.

Is it the heel? Just a bad run of form? Or has he already peaked?

I agree 100%. He has been one of our worst players this season. Hasn't scored any big goals that come to mind, his passing has been freaking awful, and for fricks sake, the 40 yard cross balls into the box, kill me man. I'm right there with you.

Honestly can't remember the last time he made a decisive pass that lead to much. I know that's hyperbole but last season and the season before he was really coming into his own and this year he has really nose dived it seems.

Hopefully its just a health thing/not his best season.

I'm just not as high on Flanno as a lot on here... great guy and all.. Scouser, I get it..

I just don't think its very good... Bolasie was working him over... he's so slow... Raheem even got by him a bit, just didn't really do anything once he did...

He's had a long lay off, so obviously he needs to work his way back to be at his best... I just think he's average at best..
