I won't be worried regardless of what happens against Everton. With a team of so many new players, 5 games isn't nearly enough to bed in everyone. Also, consider how many key injuries we have right now. We need to be patient. At some point before November it will click and we will start the steam roller.

Anyone care to throw out some predictions for tomorrow? I'm thinking with this being at Anfield and all, and considering the 120-minute match on Tuesday that this one will end in a draw. If it were at Goodison, I think Everton would probably win.

I'll say 2-2.

3-2 if sturridge plays

2-2 if he doesn't.

Goals will be scored.

Keep in mind Everton aren't exactly blazing a trail through the league right now either. We could win this. But I still think we draw.

That's fine and good, I suppose. But you do realize that if Liverpool were to lose to Everton tomorrow, that would be 4 losses from 6 games to start the season, right? Liverpool lost only 6 times through the whole of last season!

At some point, if the wins don't start coming against the lesser teams, it will be too difficult for Liverpool to mount any kind of Top 4 challenge, much less stay in what is already left of their title chase, because of how many matches you still have to play against the top sides.

Considering you still have 2 matches to play against Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton, and a match against both Man City and Tottenham in the second half of the season, any dropped points outside of these matches will mean Europa League hell in 2015-16.

70-73 seems to be the number we should shoot for to maintain top 4. Averaging 1.9 points a game is what it would take to get us to that. We have made things more difficult on ourselves, but it is way too early for a MUST win, especially considering all of the competition for 3rd/4th are scuttling around as well.

If we get by Everton tomorrow, there is a pretty good chance we could collect 12 points from the next 4 games leading into the Chelsea match. Sure it is optimistic, but that would leave us with 21 points after 10 games (2.1 per game), ahead of pace. A draw and 4 W's puts us exactly on pace.

Exactly, last week means nothing.

As a neutral I fricking love the Merseyside Derby.

I just don't get the positivity of beating a very good Everton team when we have struggled against West Ham, Aston Villa, and Middlesborough. I'm sorry but this team has showed me nothing to make me think we will do well. I really hope I'm wrong.

Everton are struggling just as much as we are right now. And besides that, derby days are just different. They always are.

I still think we draw though!

Right but they look much more composed in attack. I can see a draw also.

Each season requires a different amount of points for 4th place.

I agree. My point is that it's way to early to be at that point yet. Especially with the other big boys dropping points left and right like we are.

Why are we guaranteed to lose all of those games against the top sides? My point is that we'll be totally fine once we reach that part of the season. We just need time to gel and time is what we have before we play the majority of those games.

Three of our front four are new to the team. I think means we either come out of our funk today or we look completely disjointed.
