So I know nothing about this Besiktas team. Should this be an easy win, or are we looking at a nail-biter before the opening kick?

I haven't watched them but they are sitting 1st in the Turkish Super Lig table. I've been to Turkey, met Besiktas fans, and they are insane. It's going to be a tough environment at the very least.

Pretty sure this first leg is at Anfield... I thought if we won this one we don't have to go to Istanbul...

You're an LFC supporter so that automatically makes you brilliant. If you were an idiot you would be a Red Devil.

Very interested to see today's lineup. We can't expect these guys to go 90 today and be ready on Sunday for a must win. Especially at central midfield where we have two guys healthy.

Did kolo play at ACON? If he's match-fit, he should start for can. Can can the sub at half for Allen or Hendo - whoever needs it.

I would hope sakho could get a bit of a spell off. That moves Lovren or Johnson onto the field.

Then the attack has lots of options - I don't want studge going 180 minutes in the next few days. Hope we get an early lead and he can sit.

I'm hoping Cou won't play and get some rest. I'd like to see Ibe go the full 90 with maybe another youngster in the mix

I'd like to see what Ibe can do as a member of the top 3.

Migs
Toure skyrtel Lovren

Manquillo. Allen. Hendo. Johnson

Ibe Sturridge. Lallana

Sub Balo on for studge in first 60. Can on for Allen or Hendo around 45-60. Sterling on for lallana at 70'.

That's my ideal for this one.

I'd rather see Balo and studge on at the same time for a bit.

I was thinking the same thing, he needs a break right now. I'm getting more and more excited each game Ibe plays to see how he develops.

I agree Simon. I think with the results we've seen with them both on the field in a small sample size, BR has to give at least the first 15-20 minutes of the second half to this pairing. Put Balo on for Lallana to allow Ibe more time up top, then Sterling for Studge ~65'.

ETA: I'd really be interested to see what a 3-5-2 looked like once everyone is healthy. Lots of options for the front half of that midfield.

That's 8-9 guys you would think have to start on Sunday. I think todgers is making a mistake here - but that's just me.

Well Coutinho just had a match off to rest due to injury, so hopefully he should be fine. Giving Sterling time off here is huge. Ibe should be fine, and Can is seemingly an iron man.

I think we should be fine, honestly.

Anyone watching? I just got to follow text commentary, and it is halftime.

Saw we are holding the ball well... 60% possession and 6 corners in our favor. Bad thing is the 9 shots and only 2 on goal. Sounds like we need to create some space up top to break their line.

We shall see on Sunday. This game is a dog fight so far. Can't help but think some of the guys will be a bit fatigued for the weekend.

I'm watching on my phone while trying to work. Moreno unleashed a missile from around 35-40 yards that I thought may go in. Last week he was dancing like Sturridge and this week blasting shots like Stevie.
