Sucks. Everything Ibe did right, Sakho, Allen, and Hendo squandered in different areas. Sakho was just sloppy, Allen never pushed forward at all, and Hendo just had some TERRIBLE passes.

You should probably pray hurricane Ibe doesn't blow the back out of your net.

I am convinced the one he laced into the far post today would have done just that.

He's on the short list to be the next rising star for us I think, man he looked solid today, and in a really tough fixture to start in.

Hope he continues to develop.

We missed a great chance yesterday to close the gap. Instead, we fell further behind Southhampton, and had no movement vs ARsenal and Tots. It was a match we controlled but didn't dominate. I still think we deserved the 3 points, just couldn't get it done.

We absolutely must beat Tottenham this week.

I thought Ibe did great, and he was a fantastic bit of transfer work NOT done. No need to try and spend 10 million on someone else that is likely not much better than he is now, and certainly doesn't have the ceiling he has. Of course, it was not our neediest area, but they certainly felt we needed another body there. And while he didn't play there today, he will allow sterling to rest, and also, with the two of them on the field at the same time, we wil cause some match-up problems.

Anyone know how bad Lucas is hurt - he's been big in his role for this formation -and Allen does not have "it" right now yet.

We're piling up clean sheets now though. Great work by the back 3 - we need to rotate a bit there though with all the fixtures coming up.

ETA - Does Balos contract have a clause about him making the bench? Because I'm cringing with how much we are paying a dude to not even be on it.

I was really hoping he could play off Sturridge but he's not even making the fricking bench. With his natural talent I was just hoping that we could turn on a light in the guy but I guess it's a done deal. We really could have used the three yesterday, our form is pretty good right now we need to finish out some of these matches.

I just don't understand the subs. I know it's difficult trying to fit all the talent on in the right places, but I just think Brendan got them wrong

The next three or so weeks define our season. Taking three points from teams we are competing for fourth with, Europa advancement, and fa cup advancement. Lots of games in a small amount of time.

Eta - and it looks like we start it off with sterling, Cou and lallana all having knocks, studge not fully fit yet, Lucas presumably hobbled.

Lucas will be out for at least a month, and this is actually the worst possible time for that to happen. Without him I don't think we even have a chance at top 4 anymore.

Damn hadn't seen that.

Lucas has been instrumental in our new formation. That is huge. Allen and Hendo? I'm hoping that we don't see gerrard back there too much.

Get Kolo back, slot him in at RCB and move Can to midfield. Or do you take a chance with Lovren or Johnson at RCB?

Hard to change the back line with 3 clean sheets in a row, but right now I think pushing Can into midfield is our best option

Ibe is playing beautiful ball on the wing... No wonder he got the call.

I watched Saturdays match, first one in almost 2 months I was able to watch in its entirety. Ibe and Can were the 2 biggest improvements I saw since I last watched. Really liked what I saw out of Coutinho in the middle pressing up and leading the attack. Love Ibe and Moreno on the outsides. The Lovren transfer now seems like the WTF move of the year, at least to this point. I love the youth and depth on this squad. If they can keep coming together and develop that chemistry more, this squad should be back in the Top 4. Of course, we need Sturridge to remain healthy.

It can't be stressed enough: the next few weeks will define Liverpool's season. By the end of the Man City match on Mar. 1, the Reds could be battling on three fronts: an FA Cup quarterfinal, in the last 16 of the Europa League and handily placed for a top-four place in the Premier League. Yet they could just as easily find themselves ambling through the rest of the season with little or nothing to play for. That's how important this spell is.

Sterling out for Game vs. Tots

Maybe we see a Balo/Studge pairing up top at some point?

Balotelli hasn't been paired with someone as good as or better than him up top. We have played him as a lone striker and paid the price for it. Several o us here have wanted to see that pairing since the season started because it should take focus off of him when the defenders have to deal with Sturridge, too.

Being ok with him AND Sturridge up top (not that it will happen) at any point in the game is not something you should want, especially with Coutinho running around right behind them.

So Coutinho is definitely good to go for tonight? If so, that makes me feel a little better.

Balo, or Ibe with Sturridge. I don't care which.

From what I've read it looks like Brendan isn't going to change up the backline due to Lucas' injury.
