I like what Milner brings to the table in both ability and experience... but for me, if we buy a starting LB... he doesn't have a place in the starting eleven.
never been a good enough CM and we have much better players in the wide areas (where he has mostly played during his career)..
Now if we get UCL and with cup competitions, there should be plenty of playing time for him as the ultimate utility player...

Factoid according to opta stats Kun Aguero had zero touches in our box for the 90 minutes he played.
I saw that... thought it was an amazing stat. Klavan has been great filling in for Matip, though on the left. As much as I don't like him, Lovren did good too... Ive always felt he was better on the right, than the left... maybe it has to do with clyne as his fb rather than Moreno/Milner

When Matip comes back who do you sit?
Posted on 1/1/17 at 8:51 am to JackVincennes
I'd sit Lovren... I think Klavan has been better in this little stretch.. I also prefer a left footed LCB (though not always)
Ideally, next season, our CB pairing would be Matip and new LCB... Klavan and Lovren would be good backups... or if Gomez progresses, sell Lovren...
edit: I do see Klopp going with this pairing until Matip is fully fit... no chances taken. Even then, if they are the hot hand, Matip may have to wait..

frick me, weird to think we play again tomorrow... Klopp has said he is not opposed to pairing up Origi and Studge...
I hope Dan starts, since he was unused yesterday...

Damn that's impressive... Our defense has really been finding a nice rhythm over the last month or so (outside of Bournemouth obviously).
Really excited to watch what 2017 holds

Let's get through Sunderland and use this break to get our big guns back. It would be huge to take 3
here considering our injury situation. We would be at full strength after the two weeks off (not counting the cups).

Our midfield and attack were exhausted yesterday. We don't have a lot of depth in midfield right now. I'm hoping we can get by tomorrow with less energy spent and maybe n early lead and some minutes from youngsters. January is a very busy month.
I have a feeling that the intense minutes will start catching up with some of the guys this month.
Klavan is steady and to me - his one on one defending (other than the YC) was immense yesterday.

I didn't realistically expect a ton of changes but Jesus Klopp is going for it. Only one change with Hendo being out
I hope we make it without any injuries or else that random Dutch guy's gonna be all "I told you so" on twitter

I have a feeling we will see this a couple times today.

Very suprised with the lineup. I really thought some changes would be necessary at midfield and for Milner etc.

I thought maybe moreno... maybe origi too.. but may as well play Mane, he's gone after this... Im not sure if trusts anyone else in the MF 3 (Grujic/Stewart/Ovie) in the EPL quite yet...
Hendo out ~ 10 days...
If we can get through this match... get the 3 pts... it gives us basically three weeks to get everyone healthy for United..

This team is incapable of defeating a team in the relegation zone.
It can't be done.

fricking Mane. One of 10 dumbest things I've seen during a soccer match.

Dammit, this is fricking stupid... We get our hopes up and they shatter them.
Still excited about the hopes for top 4 but man they just keep making dumb mistakes

Yet another horrible performance against a team at the bottom of the table.
For all the Jordan Henderson detractors, his absence was huge today.
Might be the worst game I've seen by Firmino since Klopp came on.
Wijnaldum followed up his MotM performance from the last game to not being able to complete a pass today.
Mane giveth, and Mane taketh away.
As good as most of our forwards are with the ball at their feet, sometimes they seem to fall in love with their own brilliance at dribbling rather than make a simple pass.
Horrible performance today.

So very typical Liverpool. An absolute classic LFC performance. Give them zero chance at goal other than two of the most comical defensive errors I've ever seen in a match.
Such is our fate. Forever doomed to this laughing stock year after year.

I just want to see our attackers drive the net with the ball. Never know some defender might just foul you. Instead we get the ball in close its pass pass pass. I do believe we got hosed out of a couple more stoppage time minutes. That Sunderland player was out on his feet. That he was left on is a disgrace. They had a sub left Ffs. Team looked gassed. Gini and can in the first did not impress.

Pretty sure Sunderland played on Saturday like we did (a few hours earlier, yes, but both on Saturday).
And they have WAY more injuries and less quality depth than we do.
Being tired is a weak excuse (not saying you're making an excuse per se).
