moreno is trash, in so many ways.

his field awareness is so poor. just go back and watch this game - the amount of times he fails to even clear a ball or clears it right to an arsenal player is shocking. pretty sure on the pen he clears it right to the arsenal wide player who plays the ball back in then he gives up the pen. he had a "clearing" header that went directly to an arsenal player in the box.

lallana was chiefly at fault for the first goal - you absolutely cannot give the ball up in the midfield when there are six attacking players in the final 3rd. but moreno's angle back to the ball was terrible.

i cannot believe we havent found a solid replacement for him yet. wish i never had to watch him in a red shirt again.

still buzzing, love that we did our business early in the window and our transfers had a full preseason to get up to speed. our fitness levels are insane.

As an Arsenal fan, I would love to know how this feels, just once

I'm not sure you broke our fourth choice CB so much as you broke our first choice left back. Y'all trash Moreno here but Monreal got beat all game long. Hell he played better defense for y'all blocking Santi's cross than he did on any of your crosses.

mane and firmino violated him. i think this is a problem though - he's 4th choice sure, but hes still an arsenal CB. klavan is a 30 y/o cb brought in to be 3rd choice for lfc, but played his part well in his first pl game in his career. wenger shouldnt have rested koscielny

P.S. Also this about Sheyi Ojo:

The injuries begin again.

I'm not as down about Milner at LFB as many are. I happen to think Milner is a good player.

Not a GREAT player, but a good player. And he's versatile.

If he can be a *good* LFB, then that's a win for Liverpool. And I don't think there's a transfer out there available that's better than "good".

Just a dislocation. Shouldn't be a huge deal. He drove home from Melwood so I'm not worried.

I love Millie, but a left back he ain't. He can fill in, sure, but I think he's more useful in other positions.

As for Albie, I think Klopp just prefers his style for how it suits our attack. Yes, it leaves us extremely vulnerable, but I think Klopp is willing to take those types of risks.

I personally don't like it, and I truly believe that it is a mistake not go get another LB before this window closes, but it is what it is. Expect high scoring affairs, I guess.

By the way, in case anyone is interested, some light reading from a Crystal Palace message board:

https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=160973&page=265

quote:

Exactly, stop titting about with ludicrous offers and pay the price thats asked or at least something approaching that.

Or go elsewhere.

This along with the fiasco on Saturday is making us look like a bunch of f***ing idiots.

quote:

Small minded and petty, It's LFC were are dealing with not del boys independent traders

quote:

In the mean time we have no striker ... It's a sellers market, we need a striker, pool don't have to sell, so want what they paid ... Everton offered us 18 mil for Bolasie, we said no we want 25 mil, Everton said ok ... See if you want a player then you have to pay going market rates.

quote:

Sky Sports News have announced a 3rd offer has just came in from us.. £21m, kayla the Eagle (will have to dress up as a liverbird), a few CD's from Bolasie music collection that he left in the changing room and £9m in add ons. I have got a feeling that this signing is finally about to happen.... stay tuned, more to come after AJ's interview live from sainsburys car park....

quote:

Which is fine when you're bargaining from a position of strength and, if you don't get what you want, you can comfortably walk away, knowing that another good deal is just around the corner. However, when you're bent over a barrel with your pants down and a huge wedge poking out of your lowered strides, and the seller doesn't give a f*** whether you pay up or piss off, you're not really in a position to start talking tough.

I agree. But he's played the FB position before, so he's not a stranger to it. He also played rather well at the position against Barca until he left with injury.

Again, I reiterate he could be "good" (and he was "good" against Barca), not "great".

And with the talent at other positions on this team, solidly "good" is probably enough for this year. And likely couldn't be improved upon in the transfer market.

I think we'll see a Milner/Moreno horse for the course type situation. When the other team doesn't have the wing speed, I expect to see Milner there. But when they do have some athletic wide attacking talent, I expect to see Moreno there. Hell, maybe it will be reverse. But clearly Klopp sees Milner playing a lot of LB this year.

yeah, I'd prefer to forge ahead with Moreno than rely on Milner for any substantial playing time.. He's way too unproven...
