If we finish top 4... we better spend some £..
I'd like to know how much we could realistically spend and not run afoul of FFP... not saying we need to spend that much, but curious...

I've given Sturridge shite for a while, but I'd start Studge next game.
I completely agree. He can at least create. Divock is a decent hold up man, but he just doesn't create anything.
We've beaten Southampton once in our last 6 meetings, with 3 losses in that span. We need to turn it around against them.

Another grind it out performance against a physical opponent. We've won two of them 1-0 and dropped the other 2-1 in the last three games. There's growth there - its just frustatingly slow at times.
I think when Lallana came on, it was easy to see what we're missing when he's not in the team. He creates space - with the opposition reacting to him, his runs, and also his ability to change things and beat a man with his quick feet. No Mane, No Cou - so Lallana was instrumental to our win.
You saw today what happens when Can is not the deepest player. He made a few nice runs with the ball, was physical throughout, and his timing to make runs at the CBs was fantastic, and lead to our goal. Frankly - Can is a great option at starting in any of the midfield places, or providing depth for all three as well. We'd better sign him to that extension - and even if it ends up he's not in our first XI, he'll still play plenty backing everyone u through a long season.
Matip was fantastic as well - defended well (despite one mistake), make some great runs forward, etc.
I never - ever - want to see one CB cross the ball to the other in the opponents box when we're sitting on a 1 goal lead in the 90th minute - what the @#$@ are they doing that far forward? I don't care what the game situation is - both should be back.
Finally - how great was it to see Migs control that box yesterday? Possibly his best performance in Red against crosses, etc.

According to Pearce. Can's contract extension is all but done. But we know nothing is set in stone until they're leaning at Melwood.

I wonder how he'd fare as a CDM... he looks the part on the ball...

Well, with City's dominance today over CP (why couldn't we do that!), they are now firmly ahead of us in GD. And I don't see our anemic offense scoring 5 goals in a game to catch them. So we'd better just win each game and hope they drop some point somewhere.

At this point it's us and United.

I wouldn't say that - they are completely capable of dropping points - but I would bet on us dropping them before they do.
However, if we can win tomorrow, it does put a bit of pressure on them with their game in hand.
Lets just win out and see what happens.

I agree but I am in strictly Top 4 mode. I would love third place but I'll fourth.

yeah, at the end of the day... 3rd or 4th will do for me...

We also should be very happy that Dortmund won today - and hope they keep winning.
There is a scenario that, due to our lower coefficient, we could be in the unseeded CL playoff group and have to play a dortmund/sevilla/Napoli etc. just to get into the CL. Having some of the big dogs finish 3rd in stead of 4th would help tremendously.

Would love 3rd but, yeah, if its 4th I ain't gonna complain.
I am hoping, however, that the lineup tomorrow starts with either Firmino or Studge up top-center instead of Origi.

Didn't get your wish unfortunately...
Starting XI the same as it's been Lallana on the bench, Origi up top

Origi is a mystery to me.

I guess Lallana isn't ready for 90 yet.
Would have still started him though.
Why the same lineup? Superstition?
