Klinsy didnt sound too happy about him snubbing the invite to camp. He is probably still holding on to hope that he will break into the German pool (unlikely at this point). If he came to camp he would have played in a qualifier, locking him to the US. This was probably a big influence in his decision. On the other hand, Johnson and Boyd seem to have no issue with this as both will probably play in qualifiers and be US players for life.

You could probably argue that the current squad is stronger than what Bradley had to work with.
I am pretty alright with Klinsmann right now. Can't foresee my opinion changing unless he does something retarded.

Boyd is super happy to be representing the USMNT, and Johnson always looks happy to be on the field. Glad to have both of them playing with the US

Yea, the pool is deeper right now. I'll agree. I'm not sure that Bradley could have brought Fabian and Danny in or was going to do so. The other younger kids, Bradley was starting to pull them in, just got fired before he could do so.
The only bad thing about Bradley was some of the questionable roster calls. It seems like Klinsmann has done a MUCH better job with our rosters.
Here is the US v South Africa youthful roster that Bradley called up. We won the game, South Africa brought their World Cup roster.

Makes sense. I really do not know that much compared to you and a lot of the other posters on here. I am happy with how this roster is shaping up.
I put Holden in parenthesis cause that is just a pipe dream. We really cannot plan on him being a starter for the US at this point for 2014.
I think one of the best attributes that our team has is the combination of strength, size, and fitness. I feel like this is why we have played better in the second half in a lot of games and we are able to hang with the big dogs some of the time.

I love how committed Klinsy is to all of the players and how transparent his coaching is. I kind of thought it was crazy when he cut the 4 guys out of this camp in front of the whole team, but he made sure everyone knew what those 4 had put in and that they were part of the USMNT family. As hard as he drives these players, they all seem to like him quite a lot. I think it's unfair to compare him to bradley since their philosophies are so different.

If Klinsy at coach means no Bornstein, I won't complain.
But yeah, we seem more creative, more in sync right now. We'll see if that carries into qualifying.

We've been that for almost two decades now, outside of the Steve Sampson era. I think we are a legit top 15 squad now.
I think 2002 was the turning point with all of the incredible young talent we had. Some didn't pan out due to injuries (O'Brien and Convey), others didn't keep up their performance levels (DaMarcus), but we had some real stars develop in that time period, guys who are still on the NT.
I think this is the strongest we have ever been in midfield and attack. Our outside backs are also very good, at least on par with the 2002 squad. On the other hand, I am worried about the future of the central defense. Onyewu and Goodson at 30+ and Bocanegra at 33 and reduced speed should not be our best central defense options.

I'm as happy anyone with how well we played against Scotland but I'd say we're pretty much in the mix equally with all the 20 or so countries that fall in the 15-35 range.
To say we're a legit top 15 to me is saying that we're clearly better than some teams like Russia or Belgium or Columbia etc and I'm not convinced this is the case.

Oh, this has nothing to do with the Scotland game, even though I have never seen the US toy with an opponent like that, outside of the CONCACAF minnows.

I agree. This was so good to see for once!
The only problem with judging top 15 from the world cup is simply that any given WC you may have 10+ European and a few South American teams fully capable of making it into the knockout rounds or quarters who didn't even qualify.
That's just why I feel that we're still around par with Belgium etc. but luckily don't have to qualify for the WC out of Europe.

I have often thought how we would do through a euro or uefa WC qualifying schedule...would we quaIffy outright, win in the playoffs? Guess we will never know

FWIW, we are one of twelve to qualify for every WC since 1998. We are also one of seven to qualify for every WC since 1990, but that includes our hosting in 1994 and benefiting from Mexico's DQ in 1990.
