I would say Mourinho was a mild failure at best at RM, winning only 2 trophies in 3 years with the largest budget on the planet.

In the specific time he is referencing, Mou has won 12 trophies to Wenger's 0.

Wenger's comments were taken out of context. He was asked why so many managers were discounting Arsenal's title chances, and he said maybe it was a fear of failure. In no way was it pointed specifically at Mou, but of course Mou gonna Mou.

yeah, i would agree with that if it were the case, but that's a pretty big oversimplification of what he said. i'm not sure Wenger's comments were derogatory at all (fear of failure isn't a bad thing by any means) and a fair response to the consistent BS Jose (and others, not sure his comments were limited to Jose) has been spouting for weeks. jose didn't say "you're one to talk", he said "you're shite."
the moral of the story is there's no point in even discussing jose because he'll always have the best barbs.
i think his later comment about trophies was far more insightful. he's right about the fact that he'd be gone if he didn't win anything. it'd take a lot less than eight years, maybe just one or two, for him to get shite canned. he's playing this media game to buy himself more time just as much, if not more, than he's doing it to "take pressure off his players." Arsenal and Wenger did a very good job, until recently, of lowering expectations and meeting all those expectations. it would have been more apt for Jose to point out that, because regardless of any difference in veracity of the story being woven. it's the same thing.

Read between the lines. Mourinho and Wenger have gone back and forth since the day Mourinho came into the league. Mourinho is just more frank and douchey with his comments.
Fear of failure is the definition of cowardice imo, but I'm sure that will be debated.
It's pretty simple to me. My answer to the question "Should Wenger have more than 0 trophies in the past 8 years" would emphatically be "yes." That is a failure in a sense, though I know failure and success are relative terms in a sense.

Mourinho has been playing the mind games all year by downplaying Chelsea's title chances (i.e. little horse Chelsea). Nobody really cares about that and it's to be expected. But now he's launched a personal attack on Wenger. The man who hasn't won a trophy in 8 years, 8 months, and 24 days (according to arsenaltrophyclock.net). He's decided Arsenal has hung around long enough, and it's time to start trying to get in the man's head by attacking his most sensitive area.

yeah that's absolutely wrong IMO. you were right about debating it.

yeah we should have won that CAC vs birmingham
i don't view failure/success in that manner (i'm an arsenal fan ffs
), but get that's the easiest way. in all honesty, with the squads we've had, the way I think of it, we've never had the best squad in England any of these past 8 seasons. therefore we never should have won the title, and were never favorites to win a knockout tourney style like any of the cups. i guess you could say we should have won one like other clubs of similar or lesser quality have, but those things are much more up to luck than a league title. tough for me to really say he should have won something. (especially since we've had real shite luck in multiple years: eduardo's gruesome injury, rvp's red v. barca, 07-08 Pool CL tie come to mind for us excuse makers).
