TBH most MLS atmospheres are not great either, just a bunch of trans and antifa flags now days.
Not saying they are great, because a lot of them aren't. But they fly rainbow flags at USL matches too, just with less fans.
The gay pride thing isn't an MLS invention, it's a weird American soccer thing in general because that counter culture group decided to pick a counter culture sport to support.

Not sure how you can consider yourself a fan if you can’t support your local team.
And sadly this is why soccer won’t grow in this country like it has elsewhere.
It's not just a soccer fan thing, it's an American sports fan. They only support the top leagues. It's not like MiLB and NBA G League teams in ancillary markets are drawing big crowds. Same goes for USFL and XFL.
It's even more magnified when it comes to soccer because it's already hard enough for even MLS to sell "come watch our commie grass fairy sport" to the soccer agnostics, damn near impossible for USL to sell a minor league version of that.
I get it to an extent, because like I said to SCH, why would you rather watch an inferior product in Raleigh as opposed to the superior product in Charlotte. However, I also think it's ridiculous that a city like Birmingham can't support its USL, MiLB and USFL teams when that's all they have in terms of a pro sports scene.

Wish that shite would fricking go away, it has nothing to do with what’s going on the pitch. They’re not alone since the EPL has all those rainbow captain bands , wasn’t this shite supposed to end after they were able to get married.

It's not going to go away, but it's also not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. Whether I'm at a USMNT, MLS or USL match, I don't even notice it until it's pointed out. I think the most I've ever seen were like 5 flags at a match. Not that big of a deal.

That’s America in general. We’re a country of media-trained sheep. They probably look at their MLS team and other lower leagues like MLS was the Saints and lower leagues were the NOLA VooDoo
And if you don’t have MLS, you just don’t have a team. About Birmingham, well Alabama and Auburn are their “pro” teams playing more consequential games than the G-League or USL or AA baseball ever could.
Though let’s be fair, it’s mostly older and poorer fans who are (Saints/NFL or nothing). Younger people who are now the millennials who love soccer never thought like that because they were more exposed to it. If you were a 10 year old who liked MLS in 2000, you’re now 33 making money who’s seen it become a far better product

Just wait until we get the Palestine flags next year

It’s a lot more than other leagues even the NFL. If soccer wants to catch on more with the current fans of American football within the United States then they’ll have to change a little. I say this since I’m trying to get more of family and friends to watch soccer in general and it’s one of the first things they’ll point out.

If that is seriously one of the first things they are pointing out then that's a reflection more on your family and friends than it is the sport.

The arm band isn’t a season long thing
Supporters groups in England are not flying these flags non stop. You might see a LGB supporters group sign that’s about it.
The closest thing in the UK you get to this extremist left nonsense is Celtic.

Even the American sports don’t have the adoration for the “new” rainbow flag that EPL does but I get it, them them have their flags and wag it, good for them and your movement although we think it’s a lot of well-intended morons.

US Soccer ruled MLS has to compete in the USOC.
GOOD!
Its about time USSF grew a spine.
That was a completely selfish and self serving "request" by MLS.
Get Garber off the board of USSF as well. Its clear that MLS interests and the that of US Soccer are at odds.
The USOC IS soccer in the United States. Its unreal that our 1st Division league tried this bullshite.
USOC History

we’re generally on the same page about the state of american soccer, but I fervently disagree with this point. I don’t think you’re fully appreciating how much of a turn off this is for 99% of people who may want to dip their toes into the sport. the impression is anyone who attends a domestic match is a radical, and I mean radical left winger. but the only ones who are, are the ones waving the stupid fricking flags.
it’s quite literally the equivalent(practically, not morally) to a Lazio style section of like 5 dudes waving Nazi regalia and anyone left of center saying “well that’s enough for me to avoid this scene”.
not to hijack the thread, but I think people drastically underestimate how much of a turnoff it is that radical leftists essentially control the stands at American soccer matches. carry on

A rainbow flag and a Nazi flag are two completely different things.
One represents genocide, the other represents a weird counter culture movement.
Regardless, the sports fans that are saying that they are turned off of soccer because they saw a rainbow flag, need to turn off the NBA and NFL too then. It's a total copout to say the flags are the reason they won't watch soccer.

not really, and counter culture used to mean something. that shite isn’t counter culture, it is the culture

And I think you overestimate it. I would argue most fans who get interested in soccer aren’t aware of this until they actually attend a match (or start watching regularly on tv), and even then this segment of fans flying these is most prevalent in places like Portland and Seattle. The casual fan who attends an MLS game is probably only bothered if the flag obstructs their view. Honestly if you see a few gay flags and think everyone in the crowd is a radical you’re probably too retarded to appreciate soccer anyway.

It’s not over estimated at all
Most these people don’t even really understand soccer at a macro level but these far left people see this as a community to bond together. When a set of fans dominate the messaging coming out of the terraces, that tends to become the identity of the club. Left or right leaning. There won’t be any right leaning supporters groups in mls bc they will get labeled racist and shite.
The more and more the average soccer fans educates themselves on the game globally as a whole they probably will distance themselves from the MLS crowd. Like I said before a lot of these hardcore left leaning fans don’t know shite outside of MLS. It’s also not just Portland and Seattle, it’s infected most stadiums.
It is a big deal. Look how it’s completely took over US national team supporters groups the last 10 years. AO and Sam’s army were no where this left leaning or political back then.
It is funny though when they hate on European soccer but try and intimidate it in the stands. So much to the point these idiots are rocking scarves in the middle of the summer

Why do people go to minor league baseball games.
Or independent league baseball games.
Or local college or high school sporting games?
Yes it’s not the EPL. But it’s enjoyable and it’s supporting your neighbors and your town and people being positive role models(for the most part). And just having fun.
Heck people pay to watch women’s soccer. Can’t be worse than that. (Unless maybe U-9 boys team)

A flag in support of a regime that killed millions of people(not just Jews).
Is no where close to the same as a flag that supports LQBTQ rights.
