The reports of Bradley's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

This.

He had a couple of bad touches and passes. But he had some excellent balls over the top to Dempsey and Jones.
Some one could make the argument that if Jones didn't try to truck the ref and played a ball better or two we could have won too.
It could nearly be made about every player if you look hard enough

Bradley hasn't been playing great this tournament but he's still one of our most important players, and saying otherwise is just ignorance.

I think you are confusing the position with the person. His position is important and his lackluster play is a big deal because of how important the position is.

He has struggled with holding the ball and taking good touches, but he is far and away our best passer. He is the only person on our team who can create goal scoring opportunities when it appears nothing is there. He had a great lob through ball to Jones today in fact.

Jozy being out has definitely hurt his ability to make those passes because Jozy was able to come down with those balls and hold them much better than anyone else we have out there right now.

That being said, he should not be giving the ball up so easily and taking such terrible touches.

This.

Bradley has played poorly in the World Cup. Not sure why some people on here have to qualify it with past accomplishments, excuses for the poor play, or accusations that anyone saying Bradley is playing poorly doesn't understand soccer.

I really wonder how much of it has to do with deuce having to be up top and Bradley playing so far up.

I just can't believe he's playing so poorly.

What's killed me more than his passing is his first touches. It's like the ball pops off of his foot every time he touches it.

this

he lost 2-3 good opportunities outside germany's box today b/c his touch was complete shite

I think it's the "Bradley is shite and should be benched" comments that make people look stupid.

Anyone who says he isn't having a great world cup is correct and shouldn't be ridiculed.

He's still an important piece who can make a difference for us.

So what's the answer? Push him back an bring Beckerman forward? Push him out wide? What?

Also, in the non FIFA 14 world, players may have one (or two, gasp) bad games in a row.

If good (or our best) players have bad games, you don't automatically bench them - you let them work through it.

See your sig pic

I think he's just struggling to adjust to his new role. He's never really been an attacking mid nor has Dempsey been an up top solo striker.

Seems to me he's just having trouble adjusting. Losing Altidore hurt us more than just not having a big target striker up front.

He sucks without Landycakes taking all the pressure of him not fricking altidore

Stop defending the guy. Hes not and never will be considered great.

Hes great against Jamaica or in league play for whatever thats worth

But not when it counts

I must be missing the part where I said Jozy made Bradley great.

He's not playing poorly IMO. Not at all. He's not the best player on the pitch - which, apparently, was the expectation - but he's not playing poorly.

People are confusing poor play with not playing to full potential.

I disagree. I think for the large part, he has played poorly. Sure, he has had some good moments, but a key for a midfielder is to not lose possession, which he has done quite a lot of. This doesn't mean he is a bad player, and unfortunately, probably the best at the position we have right now.

He's playing very meh right now and has not come up with a crucial first touch when necessary.

The first touch has completely let him down over and over again this WC and those moments are magnified because they deny the team chances.

He did fine against Portugal until the last minute derp but his performance needs to improve if we are going to beat Belgium.
