Dirty dirty Gianni Infantino once again. Tsk tsk. I’m old enough to remember when RemouladeSawce said Mexico’s support of Infantino was because Mexico is so honest.

Why would Mexico want that? Way tougher path to WC Qualifying (even with the expanded fields).

IDGAF what Mexico does
We'd still play them in "away" friendlies in LA and Phoenix
If they pull this off, they will get humbled quickly

Will CONMEBOL and CONCACAF matter going forward? With 48 (and potentially more) teams in the World Cup, most of the teams with a pulse will qualify. The Gold Cup is an afterthought. Ideally, the Copa America just expands to include North and South America going forward to give us something to root for every other summer.

There is too much money to be made for this not to happen.

CONMEBOL sends 60% of the confederation to the WC, in its current 48 team format, that's double by percentage what EUFA and CONCACAF send, they'll be fine... unfortunately. If they move to 64 it will be 70-80%.

The TV ratings would be enormous if they had it in the 4-year rotation staggered with the World Cup and Euros.
