What? Lambeau leap is just for packer players. An opposing team doing it is obviously just showing them up.
I'm guessing Memphis said he would celebrate, not go up to a PSV logo and do the suck it motion.

Americans tend to not see it the way European fans do.
It's kind of beside the point what minority opinions are in the sense that a huge percentage of any fan base sees it as an insult and players certainly know that.
The logic is different in Europe; fans are more likely to see themselves as the custodians of the club and the relationship players have with the regulars is of utmost importance and in particular coming to your fans in the curve to celebrate a goal.
Memphis today isn't a good example because his celebration seemed pretty mild even if he didn't make an effort to show PSV fans "respect".
What would have been seen as a big "frick you" to PSV fans would have been him making a bigger deal of the celebration and specifically seeking the ManU supporters to run toward while doing so.
Again, you can say it's not American and you would be 100% correct. The only paragon would be perhaps in baseball were you could have a player that's played his entire career for a certain team and is a fan favorite who goes to another club late in his career. He then, at their home park, makes a huge deal of a HR celebration (not just seeming happy or pumping his fist but making a big production and gesturing to his visiting fans). You can imagine the "frick you's" and garbage from the fans that would come showering in and the jerseys that would find their way to waste basket after that.
In soccer, fans see it this way with almost any former player that has celebrated goals and victories with them.

That's the same as running to midfield and spiking the ball on the midfield logo. I get that, having issues with someone celebrating a goal I'm sorry I do not get.

Uh, a goal is a big deal. Bigger than a TD.
To celebrate scoring one, against a club which has probably seen you in their ranks since you were a munchkin, would be a major faux pas.
