To also be fair, France itself is allergic to playing anything other than Deschamps's regressive style.

Honestly, the 3 at the back system might be an explanation for all the own goals, because it is a difficult system to play, and requires more aggressive defending than usual. Managers for some reason aren't thoughtful about why they are employing it and how to use it. The Danes showed what makes it good, and what makes it bad in this game. It allows for lots of free movement from the wingbacks which gives wingers license to roam infield, but on the first English goal, a CB can go upfield to mark Kane. That's the purpose of it, to provide cover for aggressive defending. But alas.

I’d argue no one has shown any threat since they made the subs. Outside of that last turn and shot, I feel like he’s been poor, but I know he’s also had no support.
