The food is pretty simple for the most part. Best thing I've ever eaten in Iceland was whale. Puffin is also really good and IMO the best lamb in the world comes from Iceland

Summer is beautiful there. That was when I went. Is it common for Icelanders to shack up with the military guys there?
My friend told me a funny story about this one small college near auburn that recruited a lot of Icelandic soccer players for their team. The team would basically all speak in Icelandic. This one time the referee made a call one of the players disagreed with and the guy started cursing him out in Icelandic. The referee immediately red cards him. Apparently the ref had been in the military and was stationed in Iceland and knew the language a bit

He is my brother, it was common when we had a base there but obviously not so much anymore. Like most Europeans, Icelanders do love Americans and are smitten with a semi southern accent
