The goal kicks would be endless. Some keepers might even wear out their kicking legs.

He's saying the number of goal kicks taken would increase substantially with all the attempts from 35 yards out.

Law 16:

A goal may be scored directly from a goal kick, but only against the opposing team.

Giving certain strikers more incentive to try and launch it that far out is probably not in the best interest of the game.

Agreed. I've played plenty of indoor soccer with a two point line, and all my idiot friends thought they were doing everyone a favor by launching two point attempts. The fact that none of them had the power or accuracy to make the shot was lost on all of them. I'd hate to see a bunch of shots sailing over the net because some players are trying desperation shots.

Even Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos(the two best long distance goal scorers I have seen)wouldn't really benefit at all from such an inane scoring system.

Am I the first person to use inane on this board?

Roberto Carlos made a couple of outstanding long distance shots in the mid-90s and continued to try and replicate those relatively fluky shots for the rest of his career.

I can only imagine how many more players would try to do the same thing if long shots were worth more

Without the talent. There would be shots launched out of stadiums if this rule was put in place.

This would just give Fat Frank more incentive to kick the ball 30 rows up after a terrible shot more than his normal 20 attempts a game.
