Can't tell you how many times I've seen Ekitike and Wirtz make the same run down the middle and get in each other's way already this season. Florian is extremely unselfish with the ball at his feet. Like Roberto Firmino unselfish at times. You can see him adjusting to the physical nature of this league almost minute by minute. In that second half he started winning lots of his ground duels. It took Gravenberch almost an entire season to adjust to the PL. Of course he came over two years ago with a price tag that was 1/3 of Wirtz's so a little less pressure to put up numbers immediately.

I honestly don't know what he's good at, at an EPL level. In 23 I watched him get burned @ Anfield against Arsenal twice, in the same way, leading to the draw. It's the same shite over and over. Not every match, but if Virgil can't clean up Konate's mess, we're in for it. I don't think Konate is going to get better at this point. I barely know anything about soccer, but if Endo could play Konate's spot, I'd be all for it. Szobo had far more fire than Konate has displayed in years, it's frustrating.

We just won't see eye to eye on this one... I think more often than not he's very good.. and a great complementary partner to VVD..

He typically is very good in the air and has been... VVD is the best in the world at that, so I dont hold that against him... he's fast, strong and pretty good defending out wide.. he's had to cover for TAA since his time here..

I'd argue that I dont want my CB making a lot of tackles.. often times that's a sign of poor positioning..

I also think the CBs have had a lot to do the last few years, since we haven't played with a real 6 since Fabinho left...

I mean he starts for LFC, France and is wanted by Real Madrid... and France has no shortage of CBs... Have you watched all the of these other CBs play and scrutinized them as much as Konate? They are not close to perfect either..

If he plays like he did against Arsenal moving forward, he'll be fine.. I just hope his head isn't elsewhere all season..

That said, I dont think he's perfect.. yes he'll make mistakes and I think he works best when you have a VVD or a more calming presence in the back playing beside him... I dont think he's irreplaceable, but hope he signs a new deal... Ultimately, if he really wants to go, then I dont want him here..

If he is playing meaningful minutes anywhere on the pitch, we're not winning anything... good player for cup matches, spot starts and mop up duty to see out a match.. but that's it..

You could say the same thing about TAA, and now he's struggling to start for both club and country.

I know that's not the best argument and hesitated to include it.. TAAs been far from a regular for England though.. he's been passed over more often than not for quite some time...

Anyway... all good, I love talking LFC and hearing differing opinions...

Not sure if you were around during my 6 year crusade to get Dejan Lovren out of Liverpool

I think Gravenberch could be one of the better CBs in Europe if he had to play it. God forbid Gomez and Konate both took a knock. I'd want him to start in the middle over Endo Unfortunately I saw this morning that he took a hard tackle from Reijnders and limped off. He will not play against Poland and you'd think they'd fly him back to Merseyside asap for scans.

There's so much misinformation out there on the fricking internet.

Now some are saying he isn't hurt at all it was just a FB troll account. Not sure what to believe.

Well the stat line for the game has him playing the full 90 minutes so I don't think he was hurt too bad.

stats from game

Can't wait to see the 4-2-2-2 in action

Ekitike is used to working with a second striker and I really don't see Isak struggling, his positioning is his greatest strength.

Feel bad for Frimpong but Szoboslai is the first name on the teamsheet for me. A treble should be the goal.

Not weekly, but I think we will use it against the big 6 because it will give us a tactical advantage. I just don't see us spending that sort of money on Ekitike to be a squad player- the plan was always to play them together. Think we line up something like this when we run it.

-----------Ekitike-----Isak-------------

Wirtz----------------------------Salah

-------------Szobo------Grav--------------

Kerkez-----Virg--------Ibou---------Frimpong

--------------------Ali---------------------------------

It's not some groundbreaking prediction but I think Wirtz scores his first of many Liverpool goals at Turf Moor this weekend.

Digging the green kits today, makes for a great shirt during St. Paddys Day
