Cissokho is easily our worst player. I love when he gets the ball in space, moves slowly, and then pulls up.

yep, even better when you see him pass up the obvious passing lane, just to run in to a dead end and kill all momentum...

He literally has no vision and only has one decent foot. Any idea when Flanagan is back?

To Aly's credit, he has settled down a bit in defense... but geez, when the ball goes down the left in attack... i just *sigh*

It really is hard to watch. He plays decent enough defense, but he is cringe worthy on offense. When he gets the ball I just assume he will pull up and throw his hands in the air.

Sometimes I just wonder about Rodgers....

I would never have thought a 4-4-2 with Gerrard playing the more defensive minded spot against the pace and counterattacking of Villa would have been a good idea.

As soon as I saw the formation, my stomach dropped.

Frankly, this Stevie G experiment can't be over soon enough.

If we end up a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 and he's one of the ones in the back, thats fine, but he's not a DM with our back-line.

I think we're going to need to either commit to 3-5-2 or go 4-3-3 and have Sturridge and Suarez rotating on who plays outside defense and who stays up top.

It can't be a coincidence that Stevie's worst two performance's in awhile have come with him in the DM role.

At this point I don't know what formation gets our best XI on the pitch.

I said it as soon as I saw the lineup. 4-4-2 played right into Villa's hands. Especially with Gerrard as the DM.

I'm clueless when it comes to the midfield. Is Gerrard over the hill? Has Allen shown enough improvement? Will Lucas be deserving of a start week in and week out? What is happening with Cou?

I don't know if we necessarily can even define a best formation for these players. Its just a crap shoot. And that's not even addressing the chaos that is the back line.

I can sense the fear. Y'all may have the 5-0 win at the Lane, but we'll be taking that Champions League spot.

In reality, I have no clue. Maybe Arsenal will fall apart, and both of us can make it.

I have to think it will be dependent upon player form and opponent, which worries me because Rodgers has done some absolutely horrid things with line-ups for particular opponents. He's done some great things too, but there have been several very hard to understand decisions made over the past year.

A couple of keys -

Suarez and Sturridge at the same time - however it needs to work, make it happen.

A three person central midfield until such time as a 2 person proves effective (not even close on Saturday).

So, that has to mean either a 4-3-3 with one of our strikers playing wing or a 3-5-2, which I'm not completely enamored with either.

It's tough... This should probably be Stevie's last year as an every match starter...

It s tough to find our best formation... Trying to accommodate Stevie and the 2 central strikers... I still like the 3-5-2 if we had all our CBs healthy... I also think I'd give Raheem a go at RWB... Maybe Glen at LWB until Jose returns..

But to accommodate Stevie playing deep, you need 2 of Hendo, Lucas or Allen in front... Leaves coutinho on the bench... I dunno... Hopefully we sign a stud DM

Lets go ahead and sit Skyrtel for this one - he's a red card waiting to happen.

Assuming we have another healthy CB that can play?
