Frankly, I'm a little surprised that you've come around this much on wee Jay. When we talked before, you pretty much agreed that while he probably deserved a spot at some club in the top division, it shouldn't be for a team with top 4 aspirations. I see what you're saying about Rodgers developing him into an Allen type player, and this may be fine where he was at Swansea, but I think Liverpool require better.

If LFC decided to go ahead and sell Spearing I don't think an EPL team would move for him. Perhaps a team facing a relegation battle but I have a feeling he would end up in the championship.

I haven't come around much. He is a good passer (86% last season) and he is a good tackler when in the right position. Like I said though, his passing isn't as good as Allen's because Jay rarely attempts a difficult pass. He doesn't get others involved and that is a big downside to him. He is also vulnerable defensively because of positioning issues. He also has a weak presence on the ball and panics too often. Trust me, I don't want to see him in the first team. But I do think he was given the short end of the stick last season and think he deserves a couple years under Rodgers like Allen got. I do see him and Allen to have comparable skill sets. Obviously Allen is much more polished than Spearing, is a more gifted technical player and reads the game well. That's why I think if bought he would become an instant starter under Rodgers. But by what I've seen from Rodgers this preseason, it certainly looks like he is trying to see what Jay can offer from the CM role.

FWIW, I think Jay should go on loan or be sold this summer (unless we fail to get Allen).

Oh and in case anyone is interested, we bought the domain name for our new site yesterday.

justhoofit.com

The site should be up within the next 3 weeks. I was appointed to the editorial board and we have already found 10+ contributors. We also managed to find a couple designers who are currently making the website.

We don't want it to be a blog, rather a football content creator (does that even make sense - not sure how to describe it). We plan on expanding past LFC sometime this year and we will also have a pretty sweet podcast. I've been put in charge of the Twitter (don't ask me why - I have like 50 followers) so I will let ya'll know once that is up.

So yea

ETA Follow @justhoofit and @mkline08 for updates.

Jay would play at Liverpool for free. I don't think he has any aspiration to do anything but fight for the first team spot at Melwood. I do think he actually turned down a loan opportunity last year but I may be mistaken. It's good to have a person with the passion he has for the club.

Great posts on here today. This thread has been fantastic so far.

Considering his transfer fee, it has to be a mistake, I would think....

Interesting, I was just watching FSC and they mentioned he was tripling his wages...

Either way, we appear to have a very happy Luis... That's huge!

Also, I didn't realize, but Andy can play Thursday and not be Cup tied.

He's really starting to love it on Merseyside. I follow his official Facebook profile and he always puts some genuinely heartfelt stuff on it about how happy he is and how much he adores the fans.

Chalk up another player to the Anfield mystique.
