Sahin + either Afellay, Tello, or Callejon would suit me just fine.

What do you think about Joe Allen at this point? I would think there is no way BR is going to yield that kind of money to Swansea fricking City. What they are asking now is just getting ridiculous.

I think the numbers that have been flying around the media aren't necessarily accurate. If they are, I don't expect the deal to go through.

I do fancy Allen in this squad, but really dislike the price tag. I would rather invest that money into the wings, cover at DM or cover at LB since there is little to no depth at those spots. We have ample CMs who could try their hand in BR's system. I really liked the Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard midfield and am even open to Lucas, Spearing, Gerrard. If all else fails, Gerrard can drop deeper into that spot (which actually might turn out to be BR's preference) and I'm sure Rodgers will even give Adam a go at it. Would also love to see Suso give it a go, but I know that is a couple years off.

But, as I've said, that Allen role is the most important in this system. It may be worth it to splurge and opt for loan deals to fill other holes.

What ever happen with the Ander Herrera rumors. He could be a good fit at a good price.

Shelvey is the only player on there I don't expect to be a regular starter (and Downing if we move for another winger).

Right.

I think I've given up hope on that, so everybody's favorite Stew is who I'm thinking we're stuck with.

I'm happy to see Rodgers fielding that kind of talent.

I want to name my fantasy team something to do with Downing. But nothing I come up with seems to be quite perfect enough to fit his disappointment.

Does Shelvey starting mean BR ranks him above Henderson?

I think Shelvey has had a great pre-season, and has impressed the boss. Truly, I don't know how BR rates his midfielders.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Henderson is the better player at this point. Shelvey has looked impressive though, as we all expected.

Downing the Bottle
Downing the Table
Downing the Relegation Zone

I would go with:
Club Trillion (Merseyside Chapter)
