Gerrard needs to be dropped

absolutely agree.... both he and Carra are way past their prime and need to be replaced.... they are valuable in terms of experience and leadership, but they are liabilities on the pitch, and i truly feel that our worsened shape is directly to how dire they think the situation is too.... basically the "why give a shite, when it ain't gonna be fixed anyway" syndrome....

i know you all think i'm just negative, but hopefully you now understand where view of team comes from... i'm not just trying to be down on them just to do it, but we are truly THAT BAD this season.... we can't score, we give the ball away too often, and our keeper is a turnstile.... not a good situation, no matter how good a coach Rodgers is....

Zonal Marking's write up on the game...

I think he had a poor match, but i'd be willing to let him play through it... I still think he has something to offer...

I actually think we played decently today. Certainly better than against WBA and maybe better than the City match.

We just don't have a goal scorer and I don't know where the goals/assists will come from.

We won possession, had our best passing numbers and created the most chances on the season today. Our loss of possessions was only 2 more than against City. The difference was we settled into the City match for long minutes at a time and controlled the tempo and found a groove. Something we really failed to do today. We have created more chances in back to back weekends against admirable opponents.

Our pressing is looking better and better each week and will be a real positive in the squad this season. We really missed Lucas today on those counters.

Still, I'm nowhere near panic mode. I will assess the first half of the season in January, and just take it week by week until then. Playing City and Arsenal in our first 3 matches really isn't helping this transition phase.

I agree on the Lucas comment, his absence was noted...

There are rumors that Lucas Barrios may be released by his club team in China (something due to no playing time due to quota on foreign players)... If true, we should look long and hard...

Like that article mentioned, Lucas knows his role and fills it well. Without him, we don't have a pure ball winner and it caused Sahin to look confused for a lot of the match. I'm happy he started, but Shelvey might have been the better option.

I know it won't happen, but I want to see Allen, Shelvey and Henderson in the midfield. I think it's a good balance of creativity, efficiency and youth. Allen and Henderson are both very tidy, while Shelvey is creative and dangerous in the opponents' third.

i have.... i just don't sit around in the middle of the circle jerk at the beginning of each season, especially when there's not really much reason to celebrate...

i get it.... everyone wants to be hopeful and excited and shite... i really do get it... but to think this team, as CURRENTLY CONSTRUCTED, is going to be a top team, is the definition of fanatic.... they simply do not have it... we are not very good, and we are soon going to be very, very far behind the rest of the top teams in the Premier League.... 0 goals in 2 games, while allowing 5....

sorry if that's "negative", but that's the reality of the situation.... i know it's tough to hear/read, but it's the truth of matter... we just are not the competitive team that we have come to expect from Liverpool of the past.... whether it's a lack of talent, coaching, management, heart, etc., i don't know.... i think it's a combination of a lot of things, but whatever it is, it's not a simple fix.... it's going to be a while before we are competing again, the way i see it....

Once again, nobody in this thread feels that they will. Read the thread more instead of popping up after a poor result and you will understand that.

There are some positives that could possibly come from Owen joining the club, but I am 100% against it.

Exactly, not one person here though we would be world beaters and to a man, everyone knew it would be a project. And yes, its exciting to see pieces of the puzzle come in to place even though we know its far from complete..

A fanatic is the one who comes in whining after a poor performance, with nothing to contribute other wise

I'm for it, couldn't hurt...

Now, if there is a better option available, we should go for that obviously... and nothing more than a 1 year contract...

Agreed..

I don't get excited to watch matches because of 3 points. I get excited because I am a fan of Liverpool Football Club, the greatest club on the planet. I am excited to watch each and every match as if it was the CL final because I love the club, its fans, its history and its players. I will always remain hopeful, irrespective of current form, because without it, there is no reason for me to watch.

quote:

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

quote:

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Let's not forget the club's foundations because of 3 matches.

I can see the positives. Depth, Morgan's development, etc.

I've seen him in Manc red, and don't ever want to see him in Liverpool red again. Not to mention he is available for a reason..lost his quality.

I'd be open to Drogba but that would never happen.

I hear ya, but its about the club and if he can help... Im for it..

(I'm also admittedly sentimental here and I think seeing him in our shirt again may rid me of that other vision)
