And I tend to look at this article as a possible explanation why:
I don't think they would have considered that a "big play" opportunity. At the end of the day, that was a fantastic play. But these aren't every match occurrences. The opportunities I am talking about are one on one opportunities with the keeper that he should be scoring on.

They calculate that Suarez has had 21 BIG CHANCES and has missed 16 of them! 16! That is a conversion rate of 24%!!!
I'd be curious to know how many of those misses hit the post or were phenomenal saves. Meursault quoted something saying he's hit the post 6 times but I don't know how many were on "big chances". And, if you give him 4-5 more conversions based on him being "incredibly unlucky" and put him close to 50%, where does that rank him?

I'm over this:
and this:
We can only continue saying that for so long, and I think that time has run it's course. We have to face it, our squad isn't as good as we hoped it would be.
Have GKs played spectacular against us? Maybe. But we should be winning and scoring. Szczesny's double save against Liverpool was brilliant, but this is also the perfect example of a player needing to put away a goal. The PK save is undeniable, but the rebound was pathetic. Anything halfway decent and that is a goal. So is it unbelievable goalkeeping or bad finishing? To start the year I would have said the former, but now I say the latter.
Carroll has missed 9 of 11 big chances.
Suarez has missed 16 of 21 big chances.
Kuyt has missed 6 of 7 big chances.
Case closed. End of story for me.

My question is why? Why this season? Compare these with the same stats from the 2010/11 season for each player at their respective club...they're all down in 2011/12.

Yea, this discussion could go on indefinitely with no absolute conclusion. I agree that we're not who I hoped we were and it's depressing.

All I was saying was that we need more finishers. If you couldn't tell I was kidding about buying Tello, it was just a joke.
In all seriousness though, if the only person we can talk about that could POSSIBLY consistently scores goals is Luis Suarez, then we are in trouble. I would LOVE to see some youth come up and contribute goals and be a goal scorer. I'm tired of Liverpool taking a backseat to bigger clubs. Obviously the Chelsea's, ManUre, and City scum have more money to blow, but what about what Tottenham has done with the money they have? That team has at least 2 or so players that can consistently score. If we continue to rely on Suarez then we are gonna be in deep shite because he will just end up getting fed up and leave.
By the end of the season I hope that we have somewhat of a clearer picture of what the midfield and attacking plans are/will be for the future. Our D is stout so I'm not worried about that.

I still think he is a better finisher than he's shown at LFC, but was still wasteful at Ajax and for Uruguay... I think his main problem is that he feels pressure to score for LFC and this hurts him in front of goal...
He's at his best playing off someone else, that's what he did Ajax and with Uruguay he has always had Forlan (in a lot of the games I've seen from Uruguay Cavani doesn't start Norris he much of a factor when he plays)
We need to get a proven #9, that is deadly in front of goal...

If you have an LFCTV acct you can watch the tunnel videos for most of the games at Anfield. Gives you a really cool view from behind the scenes

I've spent all morning at work watching them on youtube haha. How much is an lfctv account?

Waiting for this weekend's game has been so underwhelming. I'm usually so excited to get to Finns and watch the boys play. This week is so different. I mean, I'll be there, but the excitement has been somewhat dulled. Looking forward to it, but not nearly as much as I usually do.

Only Pool man to touch the "The is Anfield" sign - Luis Suarez.
