That would be their issue, not LFC's
Maybe in the short term, but in 5 years when the PL is just another shite version of the SPL or La Liga and we've got nothing to show for it, the problem then becomes LFC's. Trust me, I want a league championship and a 6th European Cup more than anything in the world...and right now out finances can't compete with Barca and Real (or even Chelsea or City for that matter). And I understand why you and plenty other LFC supporters see this as a way to immediately even the playing field...but by doing so I'm worried that we're going to butt frick the goose that laid the golden egg.

Please don't take what I'm saying as disrespectful to you at all. I respect you as a poster and fellow 'pool fan. I've been reading several LFC boards this am and you're not alone by any means. I just feel a responsibility as one of the flagship clubs in the PL to preserve the integrity of English football (not to mention a stronger, balanced league benefits the larger clubs).

Oh, I dont at all... Thats why I said that I understand your point in my previous post, I like a little back and forth to get other perspectives...
I just will not be convinced that QPR deserves the same piece of the pie that LFC or *gulp* ManUre does from foreign markets... I dont know if this particular deal will be the end of all of the EPL or just widen the gap a little futher...
TBH, Im more worried about the Manc Scum this weekend, than this issue... I just think its a very interesting idea. I'll admit, I dont know much about the specifics of the contracts, etc.

I can agree with this. If the only way for the top EPL clubs to stay competitive with the other top clubs in Europe is to give more international tv money to the more popular clubs then why not use a system like they use domestically. Per wiki...
quote:
The money is divided into three parts: [45] half is divided equally between the clubs; one quarter is awarded on a merit basis based on final league position, the top club getting twenty times as much as the bottom club, and equal steps all the way down the table; the final quarter is paid out as facilities fees for games that are shown on television, with the top clubs generally receiving the largest shares of this. The income from overseas rights is divided equally between the twenty clubs.
It would still increase disparity amongst English clubs, but it doesn't force the small clubs to completely sink or swim on their own.
Like you said though, this is a topic of discussion for another time...we have a derby to focus on. Interesting bit I came across while reading RAWK today...the Super Bowl is watched by about 150 million people worldwide. The Liverpool-United match is watched by over 600 million viewers worldwide. Count me in.

Way too early transfer talk-
According to Jen Chang, si.com, on twitter LFC is interested in Yacine Brahimi of Rennes and Clément Grenier of Lyon. Both are young French mid-fielders.
I'm assuming they wouldn't help us much the second half of the season so would be summer targets.

Just got to Liverpool, England. Riding through the city. What a beautiful place. Home and birthplace of the One and Only "BEATLES"
