Liverpool had two preseason games today to wrap up preseason. We beat Sevilla 4-1 and drew Las Palmas 0-0
The squads were split evenly with starters bench players and youngsters mixed in together.
Goal scorers:

Diogo Jota 30'
Luis Díaz 39', 45+1'
Trey Nyoni 67'

That service from AB, touch by Mo, through pass by Jota, & pass from Szobo to Luis was EVERYTHING.

Trey’s goal was a banger too.

Zubimendi staying at Sociedad

Respect him staying at his homegrown club but pretty annoyed he initially told us yes or whatever and made this drag on

Hope we get the same homegrown treatment from Trent

I'm not that disappointed, assuming we still go after another #6 target (Varela?)..

I think he got caught in two minds and defaulted to the safe choice... I wish him well, but he's clearly not the guy we need..

Why does this keep happening with Liverpool? Two seasons in a row. It seems other clubs just sign guys and that’s that. With Liverpool lately it’s always some sort of drama.

Apparently we aren’t going after another #6 or midfielder

This is ridiculous

No signings, no extensions and we're 5 days away from matchday

We’re cursed trying to sign a 6. Tchouameni in 2022 Caicedo in 2023 Zubimendi in 2024. It’s a massive missing piece in our squad. Look at city with and without Rodri and even though he doesn’t necessarily play 6 look at what Rice did for Arsenal

Not to mention every sign points to Slot not thinking Endo fits his system

We better have something up our sleeve but both Joyce and Ornstein are saying doesn’t look like we will pursue any more midfielders

Pure FSG. A player who has turned down Barca, Bayern and Arsenal tells you he agrees to come and we don’t give him the RC IMMEDIATELY to submit it in we negotiate to save a few million. The names may change but the cheap arse philosophy is still in place. What this club has accomplished since Klopp’s arrival with our net spend is astonishing. What FSG does like Kiirkby and the stand expansions are all for upping the game day revenue and the resale value. They were a perfect solution business wise after the H&G debacle but the problem is they have stayed on too long. Winning with us to them is Lagniappe, as long as we finish Top 4 and make some sense of a good run in Europe they are fine. They have never and will never be ambitious as owners considering they own one of the biggest clubs on the planet. When they do spend it is with caveats like Coutinho money and the loss of Bellingham. But the pussy journalists will make excuses soon after this window closes with some bullshite to keep access to the club. And yet we forget, all 3 of out World Class players who are in their final years of their contract appear no closer to signing than when the season ended. One of them will sign right before or after the 31st and the simp media will act like FSG are the smartest guys in the room.

Jack ain’t lying baws.

FSG doesn’t give a damn about winning championships. FSG only cares about making $$$.

If a championship comes while they are raking in the bucks while they money-ball the organization? COOL!

But that’s just a lucky happenstance of their corporate-aimed actions NOT a goal.

The fact that we sold Carvalho for a good price and then didn’t reinvest it in a holding mid tells me you’re correct. At this point, I say start Bradley at RB and try Trent at the #6. He’s at his best when he’s central anyway instead of losing the ball on the offensive side of the pitch and getting caught out on the counter when he’s at rightback. It took us til January to finalize VVD’s package and bring him in. I’m hoping that’s the case with Zubi. I am an optimist though.

Looked very similar to another goal from the preseason too.

It doesn’t look like it. The live schedule for tomorrow only has pregame and then a commentary audio only show. Disappointing, but given our mess of TV rights for all things EPL, I’m not shocked.

I’m going to go on record and say I think we will regret not signing Adam Wharton from Palace

He’d be pretty damn expensive at the moment but he’s in a position of dire need and I think he’s going to be a superstar and his price will only increase

Between not signing anybody, now Gomez wanting to leave, and that stupid arse collar this season could be a long one

I totally understand and respect him wanting to leave. He can be a starter elsewhere and he’s been amazing for us covering a multitude of positions for us

Problem is you know we aren’t going to buy anyone to replace him which is absolutely not okay

Respect for Joe actually being there as long as he had. If he wants to leave for minutes I definitely wouldn’t be mad at him.

You’re right on the no signing though which is what would make me furious. It’s unreal to let the depth chart just dwindle like a fart in the wind and do nothing about it.
