I guess you never know how a signing will translate but wouldn’t Gakpo most likely be an upgrade over James? If it helps the numbers work I would ship James today and bring him in.
In a perfect world they would just sign Gakpo, keep James for depth, and maybe loan Summerville.

Rumors running around that Gakpo is off to Southampton having agreed terms with PSV and Gakpo himself.

Well Lads apparently PSV have decided against selling us their Cody.
Reports say they turned down 43 million Euros from us and 40 million Euros from Southampton.
Poor victor must have had a lonely plane ride back by himself.

Louis van Gaal supposedly stepped in and prevented the deal from moving forward.
Not real clear when looking around as to why that was, but oh well.
We are good we have three strikers on the roster, even though only 1 could be available on most match days for the next weeks.

Maybe someone like Perkins is closer to the first team than we think.
It sounds like Dieng is going to be much cheaper than Gakpo so maybe they can use some of that savings to bring in a surprise left back today also.

I think he’s got a striker profile but can play across the front line.
Pulling off Gakpo and having him and Luis in the same side would’ve been great.
Sounds like Firpo and Ayling are back either this weekend or next week but another LB would be nice

If Dieng can provide depth on the wing as well as up front they’re probably okay. James’ best attribute is that he runs fast but it doesn’t look like he’s ever going to be much of a threat to convert or create chances, and with the attacking talent being upgraded his minutes would continue to be reduced.

James isn’t a great fit for tStonewashed Jeans system either. Unless he’s playing up top where pace is his only real asset. I won’t forget him taking a helicopter down to London to play in the league cup the day his first kid was born and went on to score in the shootout. That was a pretty boss move.
