He simply does not cover enough ground on this level, which is the main reason why Turkey is running roughshod up the right side.
It doesn't help that Chandler literally just stands and watches at times.

I'm not a fan of a Chandler/Davis left side

It was. Basically it was his dream to play for Germany. His mom told him he could wait a few years and play on the German NT, and he said "Mom, you don't understand, it's the World Cup!"

But no one ever notices Davis standing around and watching in the final third because he is never even there.

Our defense is a sieve, Chandler looks tired, the diamond isn't working, the ref is racist and hates Jozy, and Bradley and Johnson combined for an absolutely gorgeous goal. We're winning 1-0.
I just saw the replay of the goal. It was gorgeous. You could see that's what Fabian wanted to do the whole time.

Chandler better be a big upgrade defensively over Beasley, because I just don't see him offering anything going forward.
At LB at least.
In individual situations his defending has been good, but the ball watching is a problem

Alright so I am watching this game on a 16 inch tv in my room at the Anzac Hotel. No Anzacs to be ground anywhere though.
The Turkish play by play guy is being surprisngly balanced.
Fabian Johnson has been great, even if we aren't including his great run and finish on the goal. Besler has also been solid.
Way too many turnovers from Bradley, Dempsey, and Jones. Especially Jones.
Jozy is getting battered but I'd take this ref for all over international games based on his first half performance. Everyone who watched the 2009 Confederations Cup is nodding.
This is an experimental Turkish side with only 3 or 4 true regulars. Considering that, we should be playing a lot better. Selcuk Inan and Nuri Sahin are the two most established players on the team and both could have scored in the first 20 minutes. We will not be lucky enough to face a forward like Mevlut Erdinc, who squanders chances every minute, in the World Cup until at least the second round. That was a damn slow start. Reminded me of the 2010 Cup games.
Finally, Chandler is leaving so much open space on the right side of the field. Now Turkey has a world class right back, but this is unacceptable. But I can't blame Chandler too much for positioning. He is being put in a position where all but the best in the world would fail.

So, Roque Santa Cruz is still playing.
And some French guy just got kicked in the balls.

Did they say Beckerman was coming in? On the tactical cam, Jurgen is instructing him. Will be interesting to see how he does.

I feel like that's more or less been our expectations for the team. I.E. suspect backline but decent attacking .
Its just that our group is not setup for us to be so poor defensively. And it may come to fruition in the WC depending on our starting XI

Marco Reus is the key to Germany's success this summer.

With the current lineup and tactics, Bedoya for Davis and Jones either staying back more like he should or being benched for Beckerman would do wonders.

Back four has been suspect at best.
They have had their terrible moments, but it's not like they have had a lot of help
I'm okay with pouring numbers forward and hoping for the best, but I question the sanity of the strategy, given the directness of many of the attackers in group. At times, Turkey pulled up as soon as we got 5-6 players behind the ball

Yeah the picture isn't very sharp for some reason.
I'm still shaking my head at that attempted right footed cross from Davis. Jozy was standing by himself at the 6

RT @DougMacESPN: #usmnt subs at the half: John Brooks for Matt Besler, Kyle Beckerman for Jermaine Jones, Brad Guzan for Tim Howard.
