This nothing more than talk of a player who knows his teams time has now passed. City's little 3 year run was a flash in the pan. Great teams/clubs do it year in and year out.
They are fricked in the next few years bc they cant spend 150+ million again bc the club does not bring in that type of revenue.
City has tried every way possible to get around FFP. They have this amazing looking academy but even by their own manager's admission they have no one ready for the first team.
City made their bed and now they have to sleep in it, maybe if they had some actually foresight on managing the club and not treating it like a 12 year old on fifa this would not have happened with a roster that won't be able to cut it very soon.

The only reason I begrudge City is because I think they might have wasted their opportunity to become a super club by being short-sighted. They will probably be fine in the long run, but I really think they might have wasted all the good work they've done. Granted they could easily win the title next year as they have the backbone of a squad that can, if they can find the right additions.

S, just answer me this -
If its meant to keep 2-5 teams in control of each major league and not allow anyone else to just explode with sums of money, why was it voted in by a majority of clubs?
Surely if it was such a raw deal meant to keep Norwhich from ever becoming a power, they wouldn't have voted for it, right?

Yep. Southampton also flatters to deceive at times. They spent big (for a club that size) on Osvaldo and Wayanama. They were nearly bought by Paul Allen in 2007. Then they went into administration and then were bought by Liebherr, who died just a year later. But producing players for the sake of being sold used to be a strategy for teams. Now most teams can't afford the inflated prices for English players, so I could see a player like Ward-Prowse staying for some time. I also could see him leaving.

It was voted for because half of Europe's 700 clubs operated at a loss. It was an unsustainable situation for the majority of clubs outside the mega-rich and the nouveau riche.

DS has his opinions, and I don't think he's wrong per se, in that FFP stops City from spending like they did in their early years. But I don't think City is beyond reproach just because they have the wealth to swallow some of their mistakes. They made decisions knowing the implications of FFP and still did them. That's a choice they made which also could be a long term strategy, as it establishes them in the upper echelon of the sport. They just need to be more prudent with purchases.

What troll DS doesn't understand is soccer is part of the societal fabric of so many countries that looking at clubs as a wholly private enterprise will not bode well for that mentality.

for that club is the key phrase. 25M #s is about the cost of a midsize player for a big team. that's both of those guys combined

Just because you don't agree that doesn't make it a troll. And yes I do understand and have addressed that argument several times. Clubs aren't going under though, which makes the "protecting the club" thing a weak argument.

My biggest issues with the sugar daddy clubs, is the way the have distorted the transfer market (fees and wages) so that you almost have to be one of these clubs to afford top players...

City planned piss poor. They bought who ever at what ever prices and bought young English players and never even played them.
I have no sympathy for this mismanagement. Their answer to everything is just throw money at it.
How many youth players have made it through the ranks since 2008?
